Does any recent visitor to the area have any idea on the state of the roadworks on Hwy 192 and the I4 in and around Kissimmee? Last time me and the present Mrs Treelo visited (May 06), there were horrendous problems and, as I understand, the work was due to continue for a few months to come.
We were hoping for some semblance of normality when we visit again in Apr [ii]

It's not exactly fair to say there is little done. They have done a lot. It has just taken a long time. Basically you can't get onto I4 west bound from 192. Instead you have to turn right just before I4 (travelling east) or turn left just after I4 (travelling west) and pick up I4 at the "Mickey Ears" junction.

Personally at present I try to avoid 192 whenever I can.

They still seem to have a fair bit left to complete and I can see there still be work to be done in April. I can update you in Feb as to the progress then. Not sure if anyone is visiting the area between feb and apr.

Where are you going to be staying?

Thanks for that Paul.

We have a place which lies between the back of the WalMart Superstore and Poincianca Blvd at the (admittedly) opposite end of the 192 from the I4, so we should hopefully not be too inconvenienced [ii]

Yes, you will still have the problem going westbound on I4. You can, I believe go into Celebration and pick up I4 at the connector road between I4 and Greeneway. I am sure you could also find your way through Poinciana and onto I4 at either the Mickey Ears junction or Champions Gate.

Again, thank you kind sir. Me and the present Mrs Treelo have been there enough times to navigate our way out of trouble - well she does, I just do what I'm told [:p].

My daughter, husband and kids are out there 3 or 4 days after us and, while they have been before, they have always had the benefit of us wrinklies doing the ferrying around. This time, they are on their own but I'm sure they will manage :)

out in orlando right now

road works still on going -although must admit having been here 4 days i have yet to see anyone "working" on them
there is a route through celebration , all i can say is what a nice place celebration is -i think i saw every street in there when i got lost trying to get through lol

the current boss was asleep after the flight and i was struggling to remember what side of the road to drive on after a very long day let alone work out the directions lol

must add though it you travel the 192 out of peak times it is not too bad

I did a trip from near SeaWorld to Busch Gardens down I4 on Thursday & there were no traffic problems on I4 worth talking about. I did see all the roadworks around the Disney / Kissimmee turns (these seem to have been on-going for ages).

We passed this area at about 8:30 in the morning on the way to Busch & just before 5pm on the way back. The friend I was with had seen it on the TV earlier that morning that there had been 1hr delays on I4 earlier that morning due to an accident.

Thanks
James

The latest on US-192 is that the junction is still under heavy construction. There are diversions in place for 4 out of the 8 slip roads.

For full details of diversions in place along with full details on the completed SR-429 take a look here

I was there only a month ago and the roadworks on 192 didn't cause any hassle!
