A J on VS is fully flexible. I am not totally familiar with Cathay fare codes, but IIRC J is also fully flex there too. You may want to check on the CX forum on flyertalk.com as they would have more CX specific knowledge. If you are about to book, I am sure CX would also answer your question!

J (or C) usually refers to a full fare business class, but not always, techicallly a J is classed as a 'Business Class Premium' fare, so should be top level and flexible, though airlines tend to use their fare class codes slightly differently to other carriers so i would advise checking each individual arline's rules and restrictions before booking just to be sure.

Thanks,

J does NOT equal a fully-flex ticket on all airlines.

Thanks for the replies - I have now booked the Cathay Pacific tickets through VS as my flights to and from the UK are on VS so they have linked them to my main booking and they have said that J on Cathay is fully flexible.

Hi,

On most airlines J Class means it is their fully flexible Business Class fare. Most airlines use J as their fully flexible fare, C Class as the next level down, so still flexible but a higher cancellation fee, and change fee, D class quite restrictive, and then Z class is normally the cheapest, and non changeable and refundable.

This is a general rule, hope this helps.
