OK another seemingly useless thread.

Mine's the cabernet poach pear with cinnamon creme anglaise they do at the SFO CH. Eating it now as a matter of fact - with a glass of Pedro Ximinez - bloody lovely.

Might have to get another one.

Cheers, Howard.

Eggs Benedict at LHR - even though it does defy the Trade Description Act since there is only one egg

Although not *quite* the question, their Caesar Salad really p's me off. What's with the whole fish thing in a Caesar?

Some places do it, some don't. I only wish the CH was one of the places that DIDN'T...

I'll second that one. Mrs. Stoneman loves the smoked salmon bagel[^]

I'm sure if you ask nicely they won't.

LHR: Cooked Brekky or Cottage Pie
JFK: Steak

The LHR Clubhouse hamburger is the finest example of its type you could wish for, and I consider myself a subject matter expert.

Would simply be a three course meal, sitting at the bar at JFK. Obviously with an appletini to wash it down.
Ideally the starter would be their black bean soup, often on the specials - they do such wonderful things with black beans at JFK [:p]

I'm addicted to the full English, I confess. Simple, satisfying and served quickly.

It seems that the Eggs Benedict and the Burger have it so far, neither of which I've chosen before. I used to be quite partial to the sushi but it seems to be less fresh than it used to be with the rice being cemented together rather than delicately hanging together. Possibly the result of being over refrigerated.

I must add that the Cheddar they have in the CH right now is top quality (like Keens, with the odd bit of blue streak through it). Again, as with the sushi it's too cold to really get the full benefit.

A few months ago I was discussing the temperature of cheese with a maitre d' of a well-known Michelin starred establishment, and it was his opinion that if the environmental health folks came into any quality restaurant then they would throw the cheese trolleys out. The only way to satisfy them would be either that the trolley was permanently chilled (and hence your cheese would be tasteless) or the entire trolley is refilled with fresh cheese for every sitting, a rather uneconomic approach. What they do to hide the cheese from the EH officers when they come around I don't know.

Cheers, Howard

I always enjoyed a plate of Sushi at the old LHR clubhouse, but my vote goes to the full monty at LGW
