Apologies, as I know this has been discussed somewhere else.... I want to book flights by buying econ fares and upgrading with miles. Now, I know I'll have to buy econ flights at a certain rate, but is it possible to do this online, or do I have to call flying club? If I can do it online, can anyone point me in the right direction?
Very blonde moment here....

The booking classes you need to book are Y,B,L,M, you can book online but it would be easier and probably quicker to book over the phone as VS can search for specific fares.

Call the FC - you need to know the fare code AND that upgrades are available...

AFAIK you can only select 'lowest' or 'flexible' online, i.e. to get 'L' fares you have to call FC. Get a cup of tea on the go, you'll be on hold for a while

Claire, I did this precise thing when I booked my return from MCO in May. Call the FC. Pick your time (ie not 'peak' time) and there is absolutely no problem at all. Done and dusted in less than 10 mins in my case. Good luck

Do I get airmiles on the economy bit of the flight that I pay for? Am sure I read somewhere that I do...
Oh, and triple points on Amex (white card holer) - or did I dream that?

Yes you will get miles & TP's for the class that you have actually paid for.

Nope you didn't dream that - you will get triple miles if you book using your White Amex providing you have transferred from the Mastercard, if you are just a new member you will just receive 2xmiles for the White Card

It's 7.43am and I've been hanging on for around 15 minutes. Surely this can't be right, at this time of day???? Are they just making more money out of me???? Is there alternative red flying club number???? Shortcut?
