V-Flyer

Is there an FC level above Gold? If so, what are the qualification requirements?

Hiya Lmellman and welcome to v-Flyer. There is a level above Gold which you will see referred to as V-50 or VGB-TOP (ISTBC on this). The consensus is that you need to achieve about 100 TP pa to be invited to this level.

Each region has its list of top flyers, for UK it is GB-TOP. Still ahve the same coloured card, but additional point of contact. It is ~100 TP but the vast majority have to come from VS flights.

Why VS can't give Life Time Gold membership to someone, say hold Gold for 10 years? There was a discussion topic early in the year, if you do a search "life time", you will find it.

Qantas, KLM are all doing that, even Singapore Airline is doing it, although very difficult to achieve.

It would be nice to work hard for 10-15 years, then relax a bit and still enjoy the service VS provides. I don't think I am asking too much from VS, think about how much revenue we may contribute to VS during that 10 years!

I was on a flight last week with a passenger that was really given the red carpet treatment (funilly enough though he was stuck in PE, they 'couldn't' move him to UCS). The FSM greated him by name and said it was a pleasure to have one of Virgin's 'Top 50' on-board.

Throughout the flight they referred to him by name and he was offered a drink at the UCS bar if he wanted to. He knew most/all of the crew and from the conversation I was eagerly listening to it appears as though he travelled at least once a month. His next trip was not until the new year. On this basis I was guessing that he would be on somewhere around 120 TPs through Virgin Flights.

I didn't recognise him but that just goes to proove that not all very frequent flyer are 'very' famous. I know his name if anyone is interested though.

Wish I had some V-Flyer cards on me.

There are a few GBTOP's that are members on V-Flyer. And Snow, there are but the rules are defined as such but the reqs you mentioned were a contributing factor + the regional competition winners from 2000.

I believe one of the senior Execs at my company is one of those Top-50, he works in CA but has family in the UK. In fact our Top custome programme justification mentioned the Virgin level above Gold.....

This can happen to mere golds if you get a good FSM. The rear admiral and I were give drinkies and an invite to the bar on a Y flight to CPT a while back. The crew sometimes seem to know if you are a regular on a particular route. I was once picked up in UC flying to PVG (when I was doing it every 3-4 weeks or so) and told I was one of their most frequents on that route.

There is a Life Time Gold status, I am not sure how many have acheived it however.

It will be nice if VS publish the criteria for Life Time Gold, so I can plan how many years I want to do international business

Well it didn't happen to me and and I assure you I am a MERE gold! In fact that very flight was my re-qualifying flight. Blah! Probably don't want to offer someone on a watch list a drinky at the bar!

There is a tier above Gold in BA Exec, BA Premier (Black) - I have only ever seen two people with the matching luggage tags and they were on my Concorde flight.

BA Premier is invite only, each premier invite has to be passed by the BA board of directors.Seems to be celebs and people in charge of very large corporate travel budgets.I have spotted a couple of black cards, one on Andrew Lloyd Webber's bag and a little scruffy bloke who's bag came out before mine at LHR:D
BA discontinued it's life time Gold status a couple of years ago it used to be given after 10 years of Au membership.
There is also a grey card that was given out to the best Concorde customers on her demise, this admits the holder and a guest into the LHR/JFK Concorde rooms,nothing else.
