Gold Members Can Pay For Extra Clubhouse Guests?

Incidently, and not ideally suited to this thread but I didn't want to risk the 'hand of doom' looking a thred... But when I flew out of LHR last week being Gold I had access to lounge and had my wife with me as my guest (we were flying PE and she is Silver). My folks also accompanied us on the trip and I asked if I could geet them into the lounge. I was told that as a gold member I can have upto 6 additional guests (on top of the 1 free guest) for a charge of £60 per person. As we only had 20 mins of so to stay in the lounge I didn't bother.

I was not aware of this but could be handy when travelling in a larger group.

Split into its own topic as if true this will be well worth searching on and thus easier to find with a new thread title :)

Thanks Paul!

Hi,
Thanks for that Paul.

Although £60 is a bit high per person, the clubhouse is excellent and if you are there for 3 hours or so , some people might view it as good value for money ( after allowing for some drinks and food).
On the other hand £60 is probably high enough to ensure that the lounge does not get too crowded?

Regards

And if it can only be used by the Gold card holders then that'll limit it as well.

Could be a useful revenue earner though for such folk. Get yourself a placard, trawl the PE queue and offer CH access for, oh, £70.

I think it's a cracking idea - limited to golds and make that the guests have to be flying on VS that day and it won't cause massive overcrowding. If it has to be booked in advance they can make it 'space available'.

Paul - who told you about it?

This option is also available for J class passengers. If you have any children under 12, they only get charged £30 per person. (this is for the LHR clubhouse only)

So - if you can use the lounge due to Au or J ticket, you can bring one guest in 'free' and others in for a charge.

You cannot currently buy your way in any other way, at LHR, unless you have purchased from Virgin Holidays as part of th package.

One other way is to use Flying Company miles.

I don't know his name of the official title of the job he performs but it was the guy who checks you in on that computer pedestal at the top of the stairs as I was entering the lounge.

Well I was flying K but I am AU. Was I misinformed or is it for J and AU pax or just those in J?

Before answering my question about getting extra pax into the lounge the guy on the desk took his time checking my ticket and flying club status so it wasn't as if he made an assumption that I was flying J.

Thanks Paul. If the people on the door of the lounge say it, then it must be okay to do it. [y][y]

As I said in my previous post - it is for J passengers and/or Au members. (but you cannot combine your 'free' guests if you are an Au pax with J class tickets)

Hope that helps

That is great news! I guess the secret is to plan your arrival suitably between flights so that the CH is quiet. May mean a little longer in the lounge, but that isn't always a bad thing.

Thanks for the confirmation Juliet. That is a good Au (and J) perk.
So often these things turn out to be rumours so this is good news.

Cheers!

On this topic ... does anyone know if you can in some way pay for guests in advance to avoid having the fuss of paying in front of the guests ??

Cheers

You pay at the concierge, so you can avoid paying in front of your guests.

Yup! J is the generic term for all Upper Class passengers

Thanks Honey Lamb.

What I am going to do is this if it is feasable:
We have three UC tix, so three adults as guests on these tix, plus pay for one child access? or is paid access only for passengers over 12 as per VH conditions?
(this is for LGW by the way)

Not sure, I had to pay for my 10 year old at LHR in April.
