I'm a newbie flying Virgin upperclass for the first time.

How do I make arrangements to take advantage of services offered in the Clubhouse at IAD such as massage, etc.? Oh, and by the way, where is the Clubhouse located?

Thanks,

Hank

Hank

Welcome to V-Flyer.

I am afraid that the services offered at the IAD Clubhouse don't include massages. The CH is situated right opposite the gate that VS usually use at IAD and is great for food and drink.

You will be able to use the Revivals lounge on arrival at Heathrow - where you can get a treatment. And you will be able to get a treatment in the LHR Clubhouse before your return flight, assuming you are flying back to IAD with Virgin. You can pre-book this by phone or email.

Have a look at the site FAQs for details of the treatment available, and have a read through the other posts in the forum - especially the trip reports, to see what you have in store.

Enjoy your flight.

As Nick points out the IAD Clubhouse is across from the boarding gate; B32. The Washington Dulles Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse is a pretty nice place.

There are showers, full menu, bar, PlayStation, DVD library, computers with Internet and a dart board. If flying Upper Class sometimes you can change into your Sleep Suit in the Clubhouse. This allows maximum sleep via taking off in the bed position in the suite. Do not worry, it is only a 110 foot walk or so to the airplane.

The Dulles Clubhouse is also used by South African Airways, and Korean Air but does not feature the menu.

I've been on the LHR-IAD twice in the last few months, and each time it's been a short flight back, aorund 6 hours, so being able to take off in the bed position, will maximise the sleep as Benjamin said. On the two occassions I have left IAD, the gate has been directly opposite the Lounge. I'll be using the lounge at IAD for the first time on the 22nd Dec.

Umm - You cannot take off in "bed position", and have never been able to.

The UCS is the only business class seat flying that allows passengers to take off & land in the RECLINED position (as a seat) - but NOT in bed mode.

Which I was just about to say too. Though the idea of popping a valium, climbing into sleep suit and under duvet to be knocked out and asleep before take off is damn attractive, I somehow think it wouldn't be allowed!

Used the IAD lounge just before Chrimbo. Despite the fact Virgin don't have as many flights a day to IAD as they do EWR, it's quite a nice lounge, with a fantastic view of what is quite possiby the poorest airport of any capital I've ever been to!

The food was good, although it got a little busy when I was there (as others have mentioned, it is shared with other airlines). There were an american family in when I was there. The guy had obviously been in N. American carrier lounges before and was slightly overwhelmed in the Virgin clubhouse!
