Apparently VS will fly an A346 into MSY today leaving LHR at 15:35 arriving into MSY at 19:20, does anybody know why? VS are offering freight on the LHR-MSY Sector.

Thanks - I didn't realise VS did charters, is this something they do often?

Don't know Neil, but seem to recall that they have done a few charters to some "strange" airports for cruise lines in the past, so don't think this is a new thing.

VS charters aren't that regular - They did a couple of trips to GIG and EZE for P+O earlier in the year. One trip was to collect some very unhappy cruise customers.....

There was also a few services to SJU last year using an A343...

Don't forget the MAN-SJU charters two years back at around this time, again using A340-300 a/c.


As tallprawn has said they're irregular but when they do happen it is interesting to see VS a/c at unusual destinations.

P.S. Any chance of more MAN cruise charters with the A340s?

P.S.S I take it that VS will be using Concourse C at MSY because thats where all of the international non-stop flights use.

Personally I thought MSY would be a great destination when I was there last year - before the hurricane.

Relatively unserved by European airlines, with pretty good onward connections and quite a nice little airport. Most importantly I think NO is a perfect destination for VS and fits the corporate image.

Thanks for the info guys, I must say I am surprised VS do charters, but I guess if it makes sense revenue wise and they have the a/c capability to do it then why not!

What will VS do with the a/c ex MSY then? I see it is due to leave about 23:30, so will they just position it somewhere else in the US, or will they fly it back to LHR empty?

I think it will probably be sent to LHR on a positioning flight, and likewise to MSY whenever it is scheduled to collect the passengers. It depends on how many flights that has been chartered to VS.

VS would have sent a crew out to MSY to meet this afternoons charter earlier this week. They will bring the a/c direct back to LHR so it's available for a frequency tommorrow morning....

Today's ex US services would all be served by the outbound a/c other than any technical problems that potentially occur.

No, sorry! It's sorted by cabin class if it's off a cruise ship.

You really don't think the people who paid for an inside on the lowest deck are going to edge out someone who paid for the biggest suite on the ship, do you?

ok fair point i was just guessing. what happens if there is more people than seats . would VS send a 747 if it new the numbers would be high i mean a cruise liner can hold alot of people cant it?

Cruise companies are like airlines - They sell their cabins to people all over the world. Princess/P+O or whoever the cruise company is would charter the aircraft and know how many seats they have to fill.... They would also be highly aware that they cannot overbook. They will be flying people in from the US/Canada and a number of other countries aswell as this VS charter....
