CO2 emissions

Why is it that i have just been charged 3 x £40 extra for my son,wife and myself for a holiday to Dubai with Virgin next year when Virgin have committed to reductions in CO2 emissions at some considerable cost to the company.( per Richard Bransons'recent announcements)

Who does my £120 go to? Are Virgin actually paying for these reductions or is it (as usual) the customer?

What are the charges listed as? I don't do any of our flight booking so don't know how the charges are listed.

It should be the higher level of APD that has just been introduced by Gordon Brown...

APD was doubled from £40 to £80 for Premium class long haul flights...[n]

As we've booked thru' a travel agent all we've received is a courtesy phone call to say that we're being charged 3 x £40 in respect of "CO2 Emissions/GREEN issues".

I wouldn't mind paying this if i could be sure the tax was going to be used for "green" issues but it's just another addition to Browns' coffers.

What about the trialling ( in December) of the Virgin planes supposedly reducing emissions ....if this is a success and its put into practice does that mean i'll get my £120 back...i think not.

It's just another smokescreen to enable Brown to get his hands on our hard earned cash.

I just did a dummy run on VH for a holiday for two adults and one child in PE. The fuel surcharge plus the new fee from Brown adds £300
to the price of a holiday, its frankly shocking. Firstly I think global warming is natural and this "crisis" is just a pile of scaremongering pants and an excuse to invent a new form of tax
( which every political party is useing ). To cap it all the money is probably going to go towards some stupid tax breaks to persuade people to get married ( according to the tories living together unmarried is one of the causes for the end of the world as we know it along with global warming ) Or brown is going to spend it on schools
because clearly the more money you throw at a school the more of it dissapears.

If CO2 emmisions are the cause of our pending apocolypse why isn't the money being spent on fuel without CO2 ( which will get taxed no doubt ), or we could stop cows from farting ( oh forgot we are actually looking in to fart free fodder ), or may be we could invade
China, South Korea, India and Phakistan for having emmissions of mass destruction.

Makes me sick.

The money will probably be used to fund our next war anyway[V]
