Don't know the precise reasons but it could be anything (plane gone tech, weather, traffic, passengers). I've noticed that this hasn't been reliable over the last 6 months for VS cos in my last two visits to MAN my namesake flight has left over an hour late.

There is a report in one of today's papers about the long long queues at LHR T3 and MAN on Friday with it being the start of lots of peoples Christmas holidays. More pax then ever are flying this Christmas.

It went on to mention that lots of people are taking wrapped Christmas presents with them as cabin baggage so every one has to be un-wrapped and checked at security.

Apparently LHR T3 was mental on Friday with over 1 hours queues to get though fast-track.

Regards

Travel City Direct now has one 747-300 left (TF-AME) for the winter so most likely reason for their delay is that its gone tech! Unlike with TCY you will probs get there before Christmas if you're flying with VS [}:)]

We were delayed a few hours in the end. No fault of VA though, it was because of the fog. We were sat at the gate and couldn't see the plane it was so bad! They got us all loaded up then told us we would be sat on the tarmac for 90mins. Good smooth flight though when we eventually got away and we enjoyed the new PE meal service.

If VS now decided to move important and stragetic flights through Manchester I think the power would shift - I have alway said it needs one big ailrline like BMI to be supported and HEATHROW would no longer be as much a crutial hub - ComE on SIA / Cathay / Thai / Qantas + of course VS - Start an important route vis MAN/BIRM
