i was just wondering how long it takes to repaint the vs a/c and where do they go to have it done.
i first thought of toulouse because of the huge amount of Airbuses but i then realised that they might not be to happy to paint the 747s:D

G-VFAB went to AMS to have her new Birthday Girl make-over. Pretty sure that's where the rest of the B744's go. Not sure about the A346's or A343's though or how long it takes but I believe the VS paint job is quite a big job compared to other airline re-paints.

Regards

None of the 346s have gone for full paint as yet.

WOW and ROC, AFAIK are still wearing their original Boeing paint, and I'm guessing the -441s (Nova-fitted 744s) are.

ISTR the 343 and 744 repaints have been done in Amsterdam, so far, and it usually takes 10-14 days to repaint a widebody airliner like the 747 (including stripping of the old paint - you don't "overpaint" because you don't want the extra weight of two coats of paint).

See this pic of BIG in her "birthday suit" at AMS:

As for Airbus, if someone contracted them to paint a plane, they would probably paint it, regardless of manufacturer, as long as they have space in their paint-shop (might be tricky, as it's main job is to paint new builds). It's all money at the end of the day.

Cheers,
Mike

Would normally be done within a segmented "C" check, so would be off line for 14-20 days.

I wouldn't have thought that re-paints will be done at TLS, ost probably AMS - at least, for the 744s.[:?]

VS.

All depends on the contract, all the last paint jobs done at manufacturer or AMS.
