V-Flyer - How did you find it?

PostPosted: 04 Jan 2007, 20:42

Mods, please feel free to ditch this if you think it is a totally useless post:D

Having realised that I now take a look at V-Flyer everyday (it's a habit, what can I say?) I got to wondering how the rest of you have come across this website and how big a part it plays in your life?

Thanks for indulging me.........[}:)]

It's a habit - but fun, informative and a great way of discussing VS with fellow v-flyers!

I find it the only way to find out things that I really need to know, and in double quick time as well [^][^]

I thought when looking at the title to this topic that it meant 'How did you come across V-flyer' i.e. Search Engine, friend etc. If that's at all what you meant Mrs G then I found it by typing V:Port into Google one time having just flown LHR-SFO in Aug 2005 with no idea that such an entertainment system existed anywhere in the airline world, and I was very :D (Although i got an A343 with Arcadia from LAX - LHR [:(!] [n]. ) Then my interest expanded to the other bits on the site - especially trip reports, and now I find myself visiting most days. :)

I don't really remember how exactly I found it, although it might have had something to do with the VS font V-Flyer used to have. I think I searched for it in Google and stumbled upon this. However it could have simply been a link from A.net.

I mentioned how great I thought VS was on the Tropic Travel Online website and Pete (Pixuk) was browsing the same site - he sent me a pm and told me about V-flyer.:D

So its all your fault Pete!![:w]

I stumbled across the site by accident really, while looking at general Virgin Atlantic info on the net. Like you, Mrs G, I too look in at least once a day :)

Like others, I found it via Google - cannot remember what I searched on, but was something like "Virgin Atlantic+comments" / "Virgin Altantic+customer review". It has to be said, it has been a very good find! Plenty of useful info.

I saw a reference on another travel forum, and come back often.

I was searching for information on entertainment systems for a forthcoming flight.
I found it, and I stayed.
I tend to visit it every so often while waiting for stuff to load etc.
And yes, I will be buying a membership very soon.

I found it whilst searching for info on an upcoming virgin flight and i am glad i did. I chose my seats from this website and booked an earlier connection so i could spend more time in the clubhouse.

I was looking for info on Virgin Atlantic and came to VF. VF had and still does more useful info about VS than VS.com.

VF is the reason I choose to fly VS even when UA and everyone else cost less. I think VF should get a cut of my spend but....

I stumbled across VF when looking for seat maps in late 2005, but then I forgot about it until Feb last year when I was wondering about upgrading to PE, was brave enough to make my first post and I got such a great response I have been hooked ever since[y].

VF is always the first site I look at when I log onto the net without exceptions.

I hate to sound mercenary but I was searching for ways to maximise Flying Club miles and TPs! Found the site via Google.

(But this is so much more than just that!)

Cheers

I was looking for an explaination of Ticket Codes, trying to understand why Economy had a number of different tiers, some allowing Mileage upgrades and others not. Since I've stumbled across this site, I have started to travel a lot, and had some very good advice from the users here.
I typically stop by every day, in the hope maybe I can answer a question and continue my learning experience ;-)

Fairly sure I joined after V-Flyer was profiled in the Virgin I-Fly or similar.

I cant remember how i found V-Flyer, although i assume it would have been through Googling. I remember reading the boards for a long time before actually joining up, only doing so as i wanted to post a question as i had a flight coming up. I remember reading the boards thinking "Wow, there are people here as nerdy as i am when it comes to planes and flying VS". I never imagined i would meet so many fantastic people through the forum, and go on to count some of those as good friends and go on fun trips away with them, and i also never expected to meet my partner on here. Strange world we live in!

When i arrive in the office in the mornings, everyone knows that my routine is "Coffee, V-Flyer and Mail" for the first half hour of the day! :) Well and truly sucked into our little community!

MrsG, thanks for this post, as its good to hear the responses, and also to see what parts of the website are attracting you all - and what makes you stay.

Thanks,
Sarah

I was on way back from MCO a couple of years ago when I overheard the passenger infront of me telling a cabin crew member about the site. They were explaning how people got information about VS as well as posting trip reports.

I was quite happy over on FlyerTalk in the VS forum and the AmEx forum, so too was Nick and Bazz, and then wide boy PixUk comes along and lures us over to that IP address (V-Flyer wasn't even VirginFlyer then!).

Thanks,
Richard
