Well here we are ... 400 of us sitting at the Rosen Centre on International Drive.

The 015 was diverted to Canada due to a medical emergency where upon it went tech.

Credit where due, even with the total chaos at the airport (I was actually in the Crown lounge when called back), they seem to have put most people up, supplied them with food etc and apart from the few the started to misquote that "Geneva Convention" most seem to be OK.

The Manchester flight was going to be a problem due to the high winds at Manchester forecast (once landed they didn't think that it could take off again to fly man - lgw) but was pretty full anyway.

I was put in a taxi and was given a la carte as opposed to a bus and a buffet - we await a call in the morning with an update.

Hopefully it looks like the car and the shuttle have been re-booked so ... another day in sunny Orlando.

We should all be grateful, that it wasn't us that caused the medical emergency.

regards

David,

According to Flight Stats the VS16 that was supposed to leave last night was on time.........so you must be talking about the one leaving late today, not quite sure why 400 of you were waiting 24 hours before the flight in the 'Rosen Center' - thats what threw me off before [?]

Here is some more info for you all.

Plane diverted to Goose Bay in Canada due to medical emergency upon landing one of the reverse thrusters remained open and didnt close.

A/c now grounded according to flightaware in Goose Bay along with all pax on the 15 from yesterday.

Fingers crossed the problem hasn't involved the gear box/drive shaft, if it has the plane could well be there for sometime!

Sadly flightaware wont tell me what plane it is but its one of the orginal LGW based planes.

Certainly a day to avoid LGW.

Sorry for confusion Nick, the VS016 departing 17th arriving 18th has been cancelled - just going down for breakfast so will let you know the latest.

"Think" the next while could be a bit messy, as this flight was pretty full and the manchester flight departing on the 17th could only take a few.

Hi David,

Sorry about your delay buddy.

I understand now as I talked with Virgin. Your flight is 24 hours late and my parents flight (VS16 today/18'th) will be 13 hours late (taking off at 7am tomorrow your time).

I just hope the person is ok with the medical emergency!!!

Yes, as I said, we must all be grateful that it wasn't us that caused the medical emergency. Just spoken to U/C reservations and it looks like ... at the moment ... that it will only be a 24 hour delay.

Another day in the sunshine - it could be worse.

It looks like it caught them on the hop everywhere - which is a little concerning, as God forbit, these things are not run of the mill, but you would have thought they would have had some kind of backup plan for these events
