Just returned from SFO with new UCS. Does anyone find the grill at the back of the chair a bit off-putting with the 'do not cover' labels and everything for the bed behind the seat. I guess that doesn't form part of the bed length you find yourself sleeping on it.
Also is the grill in the B-zone/upstairs/346?

I didnt find it off-putting if safety is your concern (it does say on the side of the suite "for bed linen storage only") so I guess its ok for that use.
I was in B-Zone on the way out and A on the way back, and yes its in both of them. Not sure about upstairs of A346.

Yes, it's like automotive companies test new cars in disguise, Airbus and Vitgin are beta testing the A380 hidden as a 346

I think the grills are there on all aircraft - possibly something to do with ventilation as IIRC in all cabins there are vents at the bottom of the cabin wall never the floor and as UCS are aginst the cabin walls hence the need for these grills.
I didn't find it off putting at all - didn't really notice it much.

The grills behind the A and K seats are the decompressoion grills and should be kept clear all times, its ok for the sheet and pillow to be stored there.
There are no grills behind the D and G Seats on the 747-400 so duvets, sheets and pillows can be stowed there.
The grills should be free from large obstructions/
