Does anyone know if the agreement whre Amex Centurion card holders can access the Virgin Clubhouses has been rescinded? Looking at the Centurion website there is no longer any mention of it. Just Continental, Northworst and BMI

I haven't seen an official announcement, but had heard a rumour that it was coming. One of the (many) reasons why I didn't bother to renew Centurion last year.

I'm sure Richard Mannion will be along shortly with a more detailed answer (he being the local guru on all things Amex!)

p.s. Welcome to V-Flyer, by the way!

When we used the SFO CH on 4th January, even though we were in UC I specifically asked the question because I had heard the same rumour, I was told UK Centurion still admits.

A call or email to the LHR CH should clear the matter up.

Knew it wouldn't be long before someone asked. It's an ongoing charade of trying to get the definitive answer from AmEx.

Latest note from CR is:

I have received clarification from Centurion Travel, regarding your concerns with the Virgin lounge benefit. The senior management team actively encourages all of our cardmembers to use this benefit and any UK based, Centurion cardmember who holds a black plastic card, is entitled to use the airport lounges.

I am sorry that you have received conflicting information from Centurion Travel. Please be assured this has been addressed for training purposes.

It has indeed gone from the website, but then that may not mean much as the website is a joke. Irony being that I called Travel, and the frontline agent told me it had been dropped last Autumn. It worries me when 'senior' management have to be consulted to ascertain whether a 'benefit' is still in place or not. I did hear the rumour that it was going too, and given AmEx's past history, I think the benefit is living on borrowed time.

Clear as mud? There is a similar thread over on FT.

Thanks,
Richard
