Hi,

Flying to florida on 9/2/07 economy.

We have received our confirmed booking E-tickets, but I have discovered that our travel Agent has managed to loose our pre-assigned seats and has booked an adult ticket for our 8 yr old son (though we have only paid the child price).

What I am concerned about is that when I added the Advanced Passenger Info it wouldn't accept my sons DofB, though I was able to submit all the other info without it. The Virgin Help Desk !! said this was ok, but I am concerned this might be flagged up when I try to assign seats on online check-in or at check-in at Manchester (Desperate to avoid being split up). The HD did say they would add a note our booking to avoid being split up, but the seemed totally unconcerned about the API issue.

What time does bag drop/checkin open at Manchester?

Anyone any idea if this may cause any problems?

Thanks

Panic over (I hope)

VA reservations manually input his DofB earlier and when I checked with the API dept a little later, they read back his correct DofB without prompting- God knows why they didn't just do this on Friday night.[:?]

Not a big issue I know, but when you don't holiday abroad/fly very often it does make me overly nervous after shelling out all this dosh (villa/attraction tickets etc etc).

Any comments or further advice greatly appreciated.

Martin.

Hi Martin,

My advice would have been to call Virgin Atlantic, so hopefully they have now sorted out your childs age issue?.

Don't forget they can pre-allocate your seats too. While no pre-allocation is guaranteed, VS do have a policy of ensuring that children are not split up from their families, even on busy flights. I have seen it myself when the crew have asked for volunteers to switch seats to allow Children to sit with their parents. Check-in will be aiming to seat you together so try not to worry about it too much.

My only advice to you would be to cut out the middle man and look to book direct with VS next time. I know that TA's seem reassuring should things go wrong, but it also adds another layer to the communication, making it very difficult to sort out the simplest issue. Its also easy for both parties to blame it on each other.

Anyway, i digress. Sit back, relax, and look forward to your fantastic holiday, i am sure it will all go well :)

Thanks,
Sarah
