Flying UCS this month. Can anyone scan in a copy of a recent menu. I just wanted to get an idea of what they offer on the freedom menu. Also, is the menu at the clubhouse the same or is it different?

Hi cryptkeeper,
The clubhouse menu is different from what you get on board.
In the morning ( before 11am I think) you get a continental buffet with a choice cereal, fruit, smoothies, pastries. You can also order cooked food from the kitchen ( choice of three or four dishes I think).
One of the choices at the LHR in April was American Sweet pancakes ( yummy).
General selection on Freedom;
Salad
Soup
1 meat dish
1 fish dish
2 other choices I think
Cheese
2 choices of desert
Nibbles at the bar during the flight
Afternoon tea includes sandwiches and scones plus other good stuff.
Regards

Hi CryptKeeper,
I'd like to thank you for asking all the right questions (here and over on FlyerTalk) - I'll also be flying in UCS from Tokyo for the first time next month (normally travel in Economy or PE) and seem to be going through exactly the same set of questions in my head as you, but just a little later.
I hope you will write a trip report, especially about what the UCS are like on the 346. I hope you enjoy Japan.

I also recall a choice of breads & sandwiches (in flight)!!
Yummy;)
I've only had breakfast in the clubhouse as I fly mostly to mco..
Last time (in the clubhouse) I had this great scrambled egg with chives and bacon on toast
If you fly a red-eye you also get a breakfast choice in flight (bacon sandwich, full english.. pasteries cereal etc)

Also If you can "mix and match" different types of meal. For example when I last flew UC we didn't like the look of the soup for starters on the dinner menu so we had a couple of bacon rolls from the breakfast menu instead!! Damn it I am just too northern for my own good:)

Surely it isn't possible to be too northern:D

If you are northern, then you can be never too northern. Still if you are from the south then I am sure even the slightest northerness is too much:D

One of my friends described me as 'not a real northerner', meaning it as a compliment. To me, 'not northern' meant 'southern', which as a born and bred Yorkshire woman (albeit currently reident in Bristol) I wasn't happy about!

Know what you mean - when one of my friends describes me as a "soft southern s***e" I have to point out that whilst I may have gone partially native the Wirral is still further North than Nottingham

On my last flight in June on the LGWMCO route I didn't like ANYTHING they had on the UC menu (fussy...and told that by the IFS!!), so I had an economy meal that they put on a plate for me:D:D

They've just opened a Krispy Kreme outlet in Canary Wharf. There's going to be a lot of bankers putting on some weight over here...

Just so long as they have plenty of defibrillators on board. I swear I can feel my arteries hardening when I eat one of those!

true - but hey, there's always that long walk from the gate to arrivals at LHR to work off that excess

Yep, sometimes I think strategically placed stores of Kendal Mint Cake wouldn't go amiss at LHR, just to keep the blood sugar up.

As an exiled Yorkshireman living in Reading, I can confirm that this is not possible

(difficult decsion as i live in nottingham it is not real north but just in the middle but i would hate to be thought of as a toffee nosed southener)
