I've got a weekend in NYC with my wife booked on VAA with a couple of MPM economy seats, however of course now I'd like to change my return from the booked sunday night to a couple of days later because a customer has asked if I can meet while I'm in the US, so;
1) will VAA let me change my MPM ticket so that I can modify my return?
2) If yes, how would it work/be done/what might it cost?
3) I'm a gold card holder - does that make any difference?

I do appreciate that MPM aren't supposed to be changeable, but real life means that unexpected opportunities for change sometimes present themselves. I'm not trying to rip VAA off (far from it I'd say), I'd just like to know if there's any flexibility built into their systems. And of course, after taking sage advice from here I'll get on the phone to the FC...

Thanks.

I believe the relevant rules are here. Specifically:
4.2.1 Once reward tickets are issued, you may make a change to your travel date, route or class of service for an amendment fee of £25 or US$50, R100.00, 1,500 rupees, ´4000, HK$300, 325RMB.

But this depends on reward availablity on the new return date you are thinking about. Clearly if there is no availablity you will need to cancel the return flight and rebook a revenue ticket.

Thanks for that Sailor - last time I looked this couldn't be done, so this is good news probably.

As for availability of return reward flight, I'll be looking for a mid-week NYC-LHR economy reward at more or less any time on the Tues or Wed - fingers crossed there'll be a seat or two available over the next few days.

Thanks.

I believe they are the rules for a reward ticket, but VIZBIZ says he has an MPM. I think you could pay to upgrade the return bit of the fare to flexible, and then change the date, but I've no idea what the cost would be - probably half the cost of the difference between the discounted economy fare and the lowest priced flexible economy return available, L if you're lucky, plus an admin fee that they might waive due to your gold status.

Any change to a MpM ticket picks up a GBP50 fee if issued in the UK.

You can date change, upgrade with more cash and miles to a higher cabin but the ticket is non-refundable.

Hope this helps, good luck with finding a new return date...[y]
