I need to get 5 economy returns to New York for the end of the month and the lowest prices that are coming up this morning are £415 in Q class. I realise that the sale has just finished but I wasn't expecting this! Are the normal N fares likely to return after a week or so to make it look like the sale was a real sale or is that it? It seems strange that BA who also ended their sale at the same time (coincidence?) are still offering seats in the £270 region. I want to fly VS because of my miles (just got silver this week after a protrated miles claim for a Continental flight from Sao Paulo to New York) but to be honest it's goona have to be BA if this situation is unlikey to change.

Any ideas?

p.s. what we actualy need idealy is LON-Philadelphia outbound and Austin, TX-LON inbound, anyone got any bright ideas how to do that on Flying Club elligable flights?

US air, though on the flight back you will need to connect.

US also offers 34" seat pitch on their A33o's.

As I have no idea of the dates you will need to do a quick search.

BA price's right now are kicking VS's to death I am sorry to say, the days of VS being a backpackers dream are long gone.

Hi Scrooge, yeah I checked out US air but the tricky bit seems to be getting back up to Philly from Austin to catch the return, the US air website will only show fares between where it flys, not any code shares or star alliance stuff. My dates are 28th Feb out, 18th Mar back.

It's a shame about VS's price being so poor at the moment, I work as a tour manager for bands and we need to take 10 or 12 transatlantic returns a year and BA's awful leg room (worse than VS I'd say), ropey IFE, noisy 777's and haughty 'no miles in economy' executive club makes me hate them but if VS continues to be £150/head more than BA I really haven't much choice

Just a word of warning on those, if you choose to go with Delta check the routing, if they try and put you through Cincinnati ask for a different routing, love the airport, love the area, hate the CRJ-700's.

hmm, thanks for that Preiffer. Not hugely thrilled about the idea of those 8 hour layovers on the way back on the CO and DL options! The BA looks pretty good but is just under 2 hours really enough to pull off a change of terminals and check into a transatlantic flight at rush hour? I'd be nervous about delays to say the least.

presumably you don't get any miles for the amtrak codeshare?
