G-VGOA in Beijing

On 10th February G-VGOA was spotted in Beijing as seen on airliners.net. A long link I know but check it out!! Does anybody have any ideas what she was ding there?? Could there be a 4th new route for 2007??

There are more on JetPhotos. Pictures all dated 10th February.

Please, please, please let this be proving for a direct route to PEK :D

I would also welcome PEK - I cannot see where the extra capacity in the fleet is though.

I suspect a fleet announcment will need to come before any further routes are launched...:D

It was a Diversion due to fog in PVG. No new route to PEK expected.

Previously PVG diversions have been re-routed to HKG. Makes sense for them to go their as it's a VS base....:D

Any idea's why this one went to PEK?

Yes it was annonced sometime back in 2003-4 that VS would operate the route as they recieved the rights to operate the route as a result of BA being given LHR-PVG. Originally of course, the Chinese said only one UK based carrier could operate into PEK and PVG. It was thought VS would open the route prior to the 2008 Olympics.

VS then decided to operate the route as a codeshare on the CA LHR-PEK routing in 2006 instead of operating their own metal.

I have tried searching it on the fourms here but alas no luck.
