Am I right and thinking you still earn 1TP on flights over 2000 miles for internal flights within the USA? Cannot seem to find anything about TP on VS website. (Basically I am looking to fly from EWR to LAS one way and was wondering if this with earn me the one tier point I need to keep silver)

please bear in mind it must be one of the qualifying classes, which can be found here

looks like I will earn 1tp then as im sure EWR to LAS is over 2000 miles
