V-Flyer

Hi guys

Myself and the OH are flying to LAX the week after next, then flying back from LAS.

We're both booked on K class PE returns.

What I'd like to do is to upgrade myself with miles at the airport, as I understand the only way to do this in advance is to upgrade BOTH legs of the journey to 'S', which I can't afford (would be an extra £750 or so), and in any case I'm not bothered about being in UC coming back.

What I'd like to hear is any experiences people have had in doing this, i.e. upping just for one leg to upper with miles at the airport.
Also, what factors affect whether the check-in agent will allow this?

I don't mind paying the extra £350 or whatever it is one way but I don't wish to pay the higher amount to upgrade my return fare.

With mileage upgrade you will have to pay to go to S or W then the miles on top, and generally you can do this only one way unless you booked through a travel agent who's done you a really dodgy restricted fare

It was booked directly wtih VS - I don't mind paying the extra to go to 'S' for the one leg.

Last time we tried this on a K class they insisted we upgrade to a W not an S (as S is time limited). We declined and got a free gate upgrade...

I have had both success and failure upgrading to G from K with miles, WITHOUT paying to first upgrade to S/W.Especially on the LAS-LGW leg, which I know is contrary to most peoples findings.

I also have 100% success rate, in changing a LAX-LHR leg into a LAS-LGW leg, sadly this has never been without charge LOL

^ Lol LAS in notorious for throwing the rule book at the window when it comes to upgrades!!

You should have no problem upgrading just one way.

Will it be an issue that there's no 'S' availability on the leg I want to upgrade?
