Here's a question for the experts.
Chatting at work last week I was extolling the virtues of VS and explaining how the FC works and what AU membership means, I was asked a question to which I don't know the answer. Promising to try and find out, here I am.
Does VS have a group above Gold? Memebership by invite only, reserved for those who spend a significant time flying. I know BA had/have an Elite club for the top 1% of their passengers (rock stars etc) but does Virgin?
Thanks

Commonly referred to on here as V50 or GBTOP, is the 'unofficial' level above Au. There are no special FC cards that differentiate between Au and GBTOP, its an internal name that VS use to refer to their top flyers.
You need to be earning 100TPS or more per year (75% from VS metal minimum) to reach this level, and benefits include your own account manager/handler.
Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah.
I can go back in tomorrow with my head held high and start dreaming of those extra tier points. [:?]

As for BA's scheme, it does have a different coloured card. It is BA Premier, and is black and invitation only. Aimed at captains of industry really, would be surprised if any rock stars have Prem status, and if it really is top 1%, more like top 0.000000000001%.
If you search for GBTOP or V50 (unofficial name) ou will find some other threads.
Thanks,
Richard

Phil Collins did have prem status a few years back, his housekeeper sold an old expired premier card on ebay (it was the old design),there was also a thread on flytalk with pictures of BA VIP boarding stubs a few months ago. Andrew Lloyd Webber and I think Sting and Mick Jagger were Premier, but Kofi Annan wasn't:D.Kate Moss defo has a black card as I have seen it on her bag.

I think you know. It's a little bit like the news reports about Jo brand being arrested at Heathrow for smuggling in 10lbs of crack.

Those of us who know we are "Elite Travelers" don't require a piece of coloured plastic to identify us! However we still crave recognition.

It may have changed since I worked for them, but there used to be a hard and fast rule that there were never more than 1000 members worldwide to try and maintain its exclusivity.

Oh someone that we know becoming a VS50...you will of course have to tell us all the juicy stuff.
I have a friend who is VS 50, hell he could be VS100 with the amount of flying he does, however he is so laid back (almost to dead) that I doubt he takes advantage of anything VS ha to offer.
