How many of you have found these pots to mysteriously end up in your bag? Can you buy them? Do Virgin expect these pots to disappear and turn a blind eye?

Just a few questions, not that I am thinking of taking them.

We have lots at home (I have a set at work too!), and my Mother, when flying PE last month, managed to work a set into her bag!

If i want to take a set home for myself or a friend, I just ask a crew member if I can take the set. They usually bag them up in a sick bag for you. I've never been told no before, and i'd rather ask than be caught pinching them.

They do have 'pinched from Virgin Atlantic' printed on the bottom though, so i'd imagine they know that they'll go walkies!

You've got just 1 day and 23 hours (and counting) to make that purchase - go on, you know you want to!

I was asked if I wanted mine when I remarked how nice they were, the FA even put them in little plastic bags for me.

I've never been told no either, and have even had them wrapped in a nice clean napkin before being placed in said bag by the nice crew member.

I never looked - can you re-fill them or are they a "one shake wonder"?

They are refillable, the jet one's stopper (is that the salt or pepper, I can't remember) is difficult to remove, a paper clip down the hole works for me! [:I] That's not what I meant.[8D]

You are correct to advise caution, some of the tops can be quite a loose fit and they do have a tendency to disgorge their contents all over one's plate.

They are nice, and definably would find their way into my bag should I fly UC. Along with the wine glasses from economy meal... 7 and counting now. Would have been 8 but one broke.

I have never fancied the salt and pepper pots, one of the FA saw me looking at them once I had finished my dinner, and asked if I wanted them. I said "oh god no" I was just looking at them. If they were metal, then maybe, but plastic, no thanks! (didn't mean to sound to snobby!)

If anyone wants some, I am sure I can get some on my next flight?!?

OMG, I thought they were metal.

Me, too (or I did until awhile back when I realized they are indeed plastic albeit metal-appearing!).

I know I'm probably being dense but I'm confused. How can it be disappointing? They're disposable cruets not commemorative souvenirs?

Correct me if I am wrong Gill, but I think she is saying that it is disappointing that they are not metal, as she thought they were.

Yes I kind of see that but to have expectations of the delivery mechanism of the salt and pepper for your meal service seems a little strange. The salt and pepper in Club World comes in a little brown paper envelope but I don't recall if being a source of disappointment - it's salt and pepper.

Unless it IS being viewed as a durable souvenir. Perhaps they could manufacture these for the Retail Therapy mag?

The cruet used in BA F are very substantial glass and chrome, but they are always cleared away before kleptos can strike:D

Obviously you didn't understand, I just thought that they would be metal, didn't think that VA would use plastic as other airlines do tend to use rather nice cruet sets. It's like the sleepsuits, I don't expect pyjamas, but I would expect them to be made of some kind of material.

Ah thanks Gill. MY equivalent is probably that I'm disappointed that the sleep suits are poly/cotton when BA/SAA F are cotton. Probably my problem is that I don't use salt and hardly ever use pepper and thus don't actually bother picking the cruets up!

Thank heavens for that. I pity anyone who gets one of my 'previously enjoyed' outfits as I usally sweat like the proverbial....
