Hello,
I am flying back from Nairobi to LHR on the 24th September on VS672. However whilst chosing my seat in PE upstairs (very excited by this!) the whole upstairs is PE & not some UC and some PE. Any ideas why, as this seems like a Gatwick Config?
If so - what are the differences between the LHR fleet and the LGW fleet?

Thanks all!

Odd that it would show a LGW config this far out, as they normally would only put a LGW config on a LHR route because of a technical problem.

Hi Coakers and welocome to V-flyer[y]

It certainly does look like you are on a LGW configuration for your flight back from Nairobi. (according to Expertflyer)

If you use the "Seat Ratings" resource on the site, you will see what seat might best suit your purposes. My favourite is 79 A& C as this is at the back of the cabin and you can recline without hassle to your fellow passengers.

In terms of actual seats, you will come across many threads on this site about the differences between the LHR and LGW configurations aircraft. The seats on the upper deck of the LGW config are of an older design, but in my view offer greater comfort than the previous LHR offering.

One down side of the LGW configuration is that you will have the Nova IFE which is not AVOD

Buns - that was my concern. Not having experienced V-Port before I guess I won't know the difference, however the thought of AVOD was a factor in booking with VS and not Kenya Airways.

Anyone got any experience of the standard of the PE upstairs cabin? I've heard it is quite dated and the roll out of new PE is not till 08. Is it still worth it?

The upstairs cabin gives the impression of exclusivity. The seats might be dated, but they are wide, with a centre tray and have under leg support (a big plus in my view).

One of the added bonuses of being upstairs are the storage bins alongside the seats - these are in addition to the overhead bins.

Bottom line - I think it is worth it
