A340 LGW-MCO 3rd may??????

Anyone know what the story was?
An airbus (G-VWIN) on the MCO route??

Hi Alan,

I have G-VXLG as VS15 and G-VTOP as VS27 on the 3rd, both leaving reasonably close to scehdule by LGW standards.

Where is your source for this info? If it's somewhere like LHR-LGW.com, the info is usually pulled by guys in car-parks with scanners so the info can be very unreliabale...:D

G-VWIN went to JFK on the 3rd - The data that this site uses must be wrong somehow...:)

This does happen from time to time, other threads do exist about this problem, I have just done a quick search but cannot locate one of the previous topic's that cover this...:D

Rob, I did think this was VERY strange! My only thought was that SRB was off on his holibobs and could not stomach 8 hours with NOVA [:o)][:o)][:o)]
I would have thought that Airlines.net would have been full of pictures of this as well if it occurred :D

Yeh LHR/LGW movements can be unreliable- they had a flight of mine leaving 2 hours earlier than it did!

Flightaware which is much more reliable shows that it is an error. It shows that it was a 744 on the route.

Although it did take a very odd routing.

Interestingly the previous days flight was diverted to Jackonsville- I guess there must have been storms in the MCO area.

A quick search on ACARS shows that G-VWIN flew inbound VS024 LAX-LHR on the 3rd May before departing out on VS025 LHR-JFK as tallprawn rightly states.

The mid-Atlantic high-level weather - jetstreams, fronts and convective activity - has been favouring very Northerly West-bound tracks for the last week or so, pretty much since the end of our run of nice weather.

Today there's a 150kt headwind over the normal landfall points in Newfoundland, so everything is routing a bit further North, making landfall further up in Labrador, going round the back of that jetstream before turning south.

Note that the daily organised NAT tracks are generally only used by flights to Eastern Canada, Central and Eastern US, and sometimes to the Carribean and Mexico. Flights to the West Coast tend to use what are known as "random tracks" - close to "great circle" tracks - influenced by prevailing winds.

Interesting the weather on Sunday must have been a lot better- both MCO flights did the more conventional routing out over Southampton, Devon and Cornwall then straight across hitting land at Melbourne, Fl.
