Being an inquisitive kind of guy - can anyone shed any light on why the LHR - NBO flight is on a A340-600 when it launches next month, yet when I fly the route in September (VS671/VS672) it is a 747?
What are the capacities of the 2 planes - I can understand switching aircraft on real seasonal routes, but LHR-NBO doesn't seem overly seasonal?
Any thoughts....[:(]

I thought the route was to be an A340-300. However, A343 routes are launched with A346s. Neverheless, I was unaware the route would operated by a 744.
I'm not sure of the exact capacities, but they're around the following:
A343: 250
A346: 300
LHR 744: 360 (though will change with the refits)

Indeed it was the 300 - my mistake.
Still not clear why the 744 is operating the route (will certainely from the 10th Sept onwards!)

It appears that Sep 10 is a 744, but dates after that again seem to be an A340. BTW - great fare for September 10th on expedia;)

I fly to Nairobi on 20/12 returning 30/12 and it is a 343 on both legs.
Regarding fares I struggle to work out the way fares are structured. On the dates above, the cheapest fares are roughly Y £700, W £1250 and J £1400. Although Z fares were so cheap I booked 2 G fares as every day in December was showing availability in J. I know its a new route but 'freebies' available around Christmas, normally like rocking horse droppings.
If anyone fancies a trip to Kenya for Christmas get a move on as there is loads of spaces in UC.
Mark.

It seems that NBO has a 744 for most of Sept, It's probably to cover maintenance or the PE re-fit of the rest of the 343's...
