Hi,

Hope someone can clarify this for me :)

Can we actually attain/retain VS Gold status without flying VS? Not that i want to do that but just curious...

i.e. doing the SQ F only flights.

Cheers,
K.

Well maybe because it is pretty hard to take VS LHR - SIN ?

Thanks guys for the info. Also another reason i'm asking is because QF enforces the min metal rule, i.e. you will need to fly QF metal a certain number of times to qualify for their status....

Like BA. My question k3nnis is what benefit is VS Gold status to you if you do not fly VS? You also could have the miles credited to SQ and use them with any Star Alliance member (like Air New Zealand).

No, if you use your SQ card at the point you board the airplane on an eligible flight, then the flight will be credited to your SQ account. (Hint: 3rd party codeshare's don't typically attract TP/Mileage)

Umm - actually, since when were Thai a VS partner anyway? [:?][ii]

(Not that this specific question really has anything to do with the topic you've posted it in... [ii])

So, back on-topic. As Ben asks, what's the point of gaining Gold status with VS if (by your own suggestion) you're never going to fly with them (or even have done in the past)? Pointless exercise if you ask me...

Personally, I think they SHOULD introduce a "minimum metal" rule. ie: at least 30 TPs must be on VS flights to get gold, at least 20 to renew.

Hi,

Sorry maybe i phrased my post in the wrong way..

Reason i asked is because i might do a SQ KUL-SIN run shortly to help me reach gold. I do fly VS. I have a couple of VS flights coming up. NRT-LHR-SFO.

So i was just curious whether or not VS enforces the min metal rule.

Hope that clears it up.

Cheers,
Kenn.

Cool. There is no min metal rule. Enjoy your flights.
