V-Flyer

We've only done LGW in UC before so never been to revivals; hence the questions.
We don't want to spend a long time there, but a shower and some decent food will set us up for the long drive home.

Is it easy to find?
Will we get an invite or do we use our boarding cards from the flight?
What food do they serve?
Will we clutter the place up if we have loads of luggage?

We used it when we came back from NY, it is very easy to find,when you come out of customs, turn left to the lift, it is sign posted. They store your luggage in a rack behind the reception, we got our passes from the JFK CH, and assume that you would do the same, I am sure they have them onboard, but when coming back from NY, they never really promoted it onboard. The food was nice, and staff very friendly and attentive, the food was anything you want, I had the toasted sandwich [y] Very nice.

We arrived approx 7am, and there were no treatments available until 11-sih, I am unsure if you can pre-book??? Had a great shower, just what you needed after a long flight. I am looking forward to using it when we come back from SYD, will deffo need a shower!!!! [:o)][:o)]

Well, I used Revivals yesterday, so while it's fresh in my mind..

Yes, it is easy to find. Just follow all the people going upstairs for the short term parking, Then turn right as you exit the lift.

I was offered an invitation card while registering at the clubhouse at EWR on Friday evening, but a boarding pass stub should suffice.

Food wise, mostly breakfasty things, like decent English bacon, nice fat juicy sausages, smoked salmon, eggs, cereals, toast, croissants, tea, coffee, smoothies etc.

If you arrive at a busy time, you may have to wait for a shower, but I have never had to wait longer than it takes to drink a cuppa.

All in all, if you have the time, it's worth stopping by, the staff are welcoming, and the showers are great.

As David has said it's worth calling in - the staff are welcoming and the food is good too. Treatments are nice if you can get one (I had no problems coming off the VS 20 - lovely facial to set me up for the long journey home).

Whether you actually get a Revivals invite or not these days tends to depend on the station you're boarding from.

Since VS switched from inhouse staff to contractors at the US stations, it seems that it's often forgotten.

At the end of the day, the invite is basically just to help you find where you're going when you get to Heathrow, and raise awareness of the service, as the amazing Revivals staff will always have a manifest of those who are entitled - J, D, Z, Gs and FC Golds from each flight - each morning at reception, along with any other details like CDCs, onward connections, etc.

Nice showers - even more so since they got their own water boilers and stopped being dependant on the BAA hot water supply, which was more often that not broken. There are several different "themes" of shower tileing, and you don't always get the same one twice - this links to a picture of one of the shower rooms.

A quick Google found a nice case study about how VS used computer modelling to try and understand the flow of people through things like check-in, drive-through, and Revivals - on page 3, it revealed that some people were spending up to an hour in the shower at Revivals! - and that was before they tucked into breakfast!

I'll usually stop for a shower, a coffee and a snack in Revivals, then at least I'll feel half-human when heading onward.

Is this a recent thing?... We flew UC from LGW last year and were totally unaware of this.
Just checked and no mention of it on the VS website.

I flew in on VS602 (UC) from JNB yesterday and had a connection on VS3 (PE) to JFK leaving me only a couple of hours to use the Revivals lounge. I asked the FA what the procedure was for using Revivals and she pointed out that for passengers with connections it was maybe a better idea to use the Clubhouse as I wouldn't have to negotiate security. Sure enough entry into the CH was easy and the facilities up to the usual high standards.

Would agree with you, Nick. Have done what you did and if one had the choice, the Clubhouse is obviously superior. But Revivals as a standalone choice for non-transiting pax is a very good product. No invite is necessary as long as you keep your boarding stub.

Technically, you don't even need your boarding stub Chuck. They work off the passenger manifest list for each flight to confirm eligibility at reception.

Your flight number and name (providing you were on an official, non op-up, Upper Class flight / Gold card holder) is enough for them to grant access.

That's all I did last week - gave my name and flight number and I was in.

What time does Revivals close at LHR?

I will be getting off the DXB-LHR flight in August and that seems to arrive at 1.50pm - I assume that will be too late to allow us to enjoy Revivals? [ii]

You name doesn't appear on the list if you are Au and not travelling in J as I've had to show my Au card on more than one occasion when I've flown in W or Y. The staff then always add my name to the list.

Indeed - although it can be nice after any flight (and some West Coast red eyes don't get in until after 1.30pm... ok, I doubt that many people are heading "into the office for a meeting" at that time, but there are quite a lot of people who appreciate using Revivals after a leisure trip and/or may have a hot evening date after they arrive at Heathrow...)

I was talking more about the morning east coast arrivals but preiffer has demonstrated that it is also done from the afternoon arrivals

Sorry, you misunderstood me then, I said

which meant that I doubted that many people getting off of the late arriving west coast flights (etc) were on the way to a same day meeting... (i.e. if you are geeting off of a flight at 3pm, you are unlikely to have a meeting the same day). I did not mean that I doubted many people were getting off of any flight were off to a same day meeting.

I know that many people fly in same day for a meeting...

I would really like to use revivals in the afternoon, VS24 works very well for me but of course it's closed by then/

It is also frustrating that not alternative is offered.

Does it shut promptly at 1.30?
I've always wondered if you were on a flight such as the VS56 and it was running late. Would they extend the opening hours or is it just tough luck?

Could someone confirm for me that Golds do get in to LGW revivals.

Just checked the Gold pack and it mentions entrance to LHR revivals but nothing about LGW.
