Hi

am considering a trip to Sun City next Spring and although would love to travel UC, who wouldn't? price may be just too prohibitive, so am looking at PE. Firstly can anyone tell me if there's an Upstairs on this flight, also are the new seats and cabin service on this route, and how long a journey is flight? Have flown a couple of times now PE, to Vegas and Orlando, but last flight was UC to Dubai and think I may have been a bit spoilt, don't want to travel any other way now, although before flying UC thought PE was great, especially in the Upper Deck. Sorry for waffling!

Hi Lynne,

The JNB flights are operated by the A346 aircraft, so no upstairs at all on these a/c, however they all now have the new PE seats and cabin service, so hopefully you should still have a good flight experience. The flight time is abt 11hrs.

I think the flights to Jo'burg are on the 346s for the most part which means that there is no upstairs (unless you fancy a refreshing breeze) and the flight time is just over 11 hours.

If I recall correctly JNB is served by a 747 over the Chrisrmas period but reverts back to the 346 after that

JNB usually gets a 744 for our winter/SA's summer. VS use the larger capacity aircraft to allow for the extra demand during this period.

Unfortunately VS will be moving the PE seating to the lower deck of their LHR 744's later this year. Upstairs means UC ticket only if you travel on a LHR route...:D
