Virgin used to have the Best of British menu (winter) on their site, but now that we are in Summer, this has disappeared. Are they not doing a summer menu.

I assume its the VS web team being a little slack as per usual.

The current offerings are mentioned in Mike-smashing's Trip Report, and are great for potato fans (regional/route variations permitting of course)

after looking at the menu, agreed things were a bit limiting... what, with the potato soup, the haddock and potato stack, the sausage and mash, and the potato-topped vegetable pie, there wasn't really much left (all the chicken curry had gone, and I didn't fancy curry anyway)

Didn't Decker reference the new menu in his trip report

Like Mike, I don't really "do" potatoes so I hope there's something different on the menu in two weeks time;)

Well, PVG had Chicken Tikka/Sausage & Mash/Veggie thing the other week.

Coming back, it was Chicken Noodles/something else/something else (not potato) though. (Sorry, crap memory [:I])

Yeah but in the TR Decker says

As it's a new route they've got the forthcoming new menu early

which suggests that it is due out about now. I sincerely hope it's there before my trip in two weeks time

Had bangers & mash going to NYC in May.

Flying LGW-MCO out and LAS-LGW back

I'm pretty sure it's now changed out to some variant of what was served on Decker's flight. There was a VS19 TR by mcnaugha from 10th June where he mentions having lamb, but he says:

The soup was like baby food... the rest of the stuff on the plate was eat-only-if-really-hungry.

So it looks like the menu has been changed over, but it's still fairly spud-tastic. The advice to top-up at the Clubhouse still applies, I think.

LGW-MCO will not have any light bites or mid-flight snacks loaded, so it's just the main meal, afternoon tea service, ice cream, and bar nibbles. LAS-LGW because of the longer flight time should have a light bite selection (usually two or three smaller snacks like hot sandwiches, etc).

Usually a selection of sandwiches, scones, cake, etc. I remember they had even managed to get potato in one of the sandwiches once - though I'll be darned how, except I remember it wasn't a chip butty.

Bar nibbles are usually crisps, occasionally nuts, rice crackers, etc. There's also a fruit bowl, and usually chocolates, though they can be a bit hit and miss.

Just not a great potato fan.
