When was the last time you saw an in-flight mag?

It's just dawned on me - I've not seen one for years
I know Upper Class switched to "Carlos" a while back (which had differing reviews

) and then some other thing in the Clubhouse, but even this appears to have disappeared by stealth to my knowledge.
In other cabins, I assume there's not been any form of reading material for a long while.
I've only seen the Duty Free catalogue and "Seatback" for quite some time now; no other Virgin-owned media onboard.
I wonder what happened... [?] Maybe the writers got too expensive [:?]

And paper is very heavy to transport - I suspect the Bean Counters got to them. Which is a shame really - Virgin Trains have their own magazine.
As has been said on previous threads, you just can't beat
Sky Mall on US internal flights for a right good laugh.

No doubt the "green" card will be played on this one.

We've got an inflight magazine called "Voyeur". It's a really good read [^]

Careful...
While
the magazine looks good, type "voyeur" into google and you get all sorts... [:I]
I did get all excited for a brief moment there...

This is a subject I've thought about a number of times over the years and have to say that I really wish VS would reintroduce something.
I have always enjoyed reading different in-flight mags and VS is the only airline I have flown on that does not have one for the main cabin - although I am sure there are a few more out there (especially the no frills airlines). Wouldn't stop me flying VS but would certainly enhance the experience.

It's not even the "main cabin" any more Phil, it's all cabins - there's no VS-produced magazine anywhere now.

Ryanair has quite a good inflight magazine. It is distributed at the start of the flight and then collected at the end.

Hmmm - so it appears does
EasyJet. Looks like even the cheap airlines have mags - so what is the company line on not having a VS mag?

P.S. Here's a list of
various airline and their magazines.

FlyBE has one - although it's not that interesting....

I quite like BA's in-flight mag in Europe (I don't know if it's different on long-haul) but I haven't seen Hot Air for a while. I suppose VS feels it doesn't need to provide reading material because of the provision of IFE[:?]

Actually, it occurs to me that I don't recall seeing any mention of DXB magazine in Dubai trip reports, and that was only launched last year.
And I guess Preiffer's "some other thing in the Clubhouse" would have been Travel Notes (
http://tinyurl.com/3x923p)?
It was due to launch in October last year and I was never sure if they really meant "bi-annual" (every two years) or "semi-annual" (every six months). Taking two years to produce a new issue seems excessive, though I've never even seen the first one.

Surely biannual is twice a year? Biennial is once every two years.

It was on my DXB-LHR flight in May (forget to mention it in my TR [:I])
It's a good read!

Virgin Express had a quarterly in-flight magazine named Redhot. I quite like Virgin Blue's - always had something quirky on the front, such as "Take me, I'm yours."
I like in-flight magazines which contains lots of interesting facts about the history of the airline, such as SIA's SilverKris magazine.
Eurostar abandoned its bi-monthly Eurostar magazine in 1998 if my memory serves me correctly.

I agree with Jetstreamer - Virgin Blue's mag is a great read, lots of helpful info on their destinations and current happenings in Australia.
Qantas have a very good monthly mag I seem to recall. What was the VS offering called that got ditched a few years back??
VS really should have something on offer, it would have great marketing potential if it was used smartly...

Are you thinking of Carlos?
I also thought the Virgin Blue mag was a good one

No, way back before Carlos was introduced VS had an in-flight mag which was available in all 3 classes. It ceased around 1998-2000ish if I remember correctly. It was replaced by the current Seatback offering.

According to dictionary.com it can mean either, which is more than a bit mad, given that bi-weekly means every two weeks, and bi-monthly means every two months.

The old in-flight mag was called "Hot Air" IIRC

The last time I saw an in flight magazine was "travel notes", but this wasn't in flight, just a pick up from Revivals.
All they seem to have now is golf magazines at the bar.
I've given up relying on VS to provide any material so take Heat (the crew always appreciate it too) and Conde Nast now myself.
I remember my first flight on VS, nearly 10 tears ago when Hot Air was in Y [:0]
cheers!

p.s - I'm bored of the rain now....

Think I'll stick with the Oxford English Dictionary, which only has the twice a year definition. Using in place of biennal is a confusion we should not encourage
