Consolidating miles from Silver Supp Account

Hi all,
I called the Premier Team yesterday to credit the EC miles from two UC upgrade reward tickets, a bucket of miles into my Gold account, the others miles into the wife's Silver Supplementary account.
Once this was done, I asked if the miles in the wife's account could now be transferred over to my Gold account (to give us one big bucket of miles) but was told that this can only be done at the time of booking a new flight. Can anyone clarify that this is indeed the case?
It's a pain if it is, since I doubt I'll make Gold again this year which will effectively leave 16k miles in the wife's account that, to all intents and purposes, we won't be able to use. (On the assumption that you need a minimum of, say, 30k for a single-leg EC-->UC upgrade when using two accounts to book a reward flight.)

I originally thought that when your Au membership lapses so did your partners Ag and all the miles were automatically transfer. However, looking at the T&Cs it appears this is not the case.
Funnily enough we are in a similar situation as my Au status lapsed last September but my wife's Ag supplementary account does not lapse until August this year. I will regain Au status in July so I am hoping that we can keep the supplementary account alive but am prepared for all the miles to be transferred. If we reapply for anopther supplementary not sure we will be able to transfer miles across (between supplementaries) and therefore make my wife's miles accessible again.

The T&C's state:
2.17
b) Members enrolled into a SSA will be afforded exactly the same rights as a standard Flying Club Silver member, as laid out in the Flying Club Terms & Conditions, except that, in addition, the Gold member may spend miles from the SSA to pay for a reward, either in part or in full. The Gold member may use miles from their own personal account and the SSA for the same reward, although rewards booked by the gold member using miles from the SSA may only be booked via the Flying Club helpline.Where applicable any Gold member who has an authorised account user noted in their account, this user will also be entitled to spend the miles from the SSA account. Gold members cannot book rewards using miles from the SSA at any airport.
But, many of us here, including myself, have called up Premier and had the SSA miles added straight to our Au accounts without booking a flight. I emptied out my SSA account a few months ago, and the miles transfer happened instantly, without the need to book or fight, or even state that i'd be booking one soon.
Try calling back and speaking to somebody else as it can be done.
Thanks,
Sarah

SSA's do seem to be a grey area with quite a few people at VS as I've even had Premier team tell me I can't use my SSA's miles on my rewards bookings.
The transfer of the miles between your SSA and your Au account is a seperate exercise that has to be done before booking the reward flight.
I suppose in theroy, you could get Premier to do the transfer then tell them your going to make the reward booking online yourself [:w]

Just call back and speak to someone else. They will transfer the miles between accounts. No worries.

I have made transfers from my wifes into mine on a number of occasions without any problem and without booking a flight.
Cheers
