Car hire (Hertz via VS website)

Grateful for your advice.

Has anyone booked Hertz car hire via the flying club section of the VS website? They appear to offer very good deals.

I am looking at car hire in FL but have concerns about being stung for additional taxes and insurances which have to be taken out when actually collecting a car.[:0]

Thanks

Jeremy

I always book Hertz for Florida, but do it through the Hertz UK web site or by phone as sometimes the direct call prices come out better.
You get discount for using a Master Card as I recall, plus preferential rates if you are a Hertz Gold card holder

Thanks Alan, will give them a try, I assume Amex is also good?

BTW just booked the flights

U/C outbound
P/E inbound

for £847 and 40,000 miles, do you think I got a good deal?

LGW - MCO (today is the last day of the sale)

Early flight out, late coming back.

Will try your suggestion John, but assume that you don't get flying club points?

Jeremy

I tried them the other week for Florida in December. For Dollar they were actually £14 more expensive than Dollar direct so worth checking the main site just in case.

Having just booked a flight to MCO, I decided to give the "book a car" option.

Obtained a good rate on a Dollar Car - comparable to Airline Network (who I have used in the past) and earnt miles too[y][y][y][y]
