I know one particular retailer tried to remove senior discounts on Wednesdays not too long ago.

...yes, there were almost VIOLENT protests at the stores. It was promptly re-instated (and even expanded in the end) [:0]

GJ, done away with it altogether. Maybe they looked at my flight plans and decided I was costing them too much by way of lost revenue [ii]

These oldies are just too much like hard work. You should see them, dancing the aisles with their frames, grabbing the male CC. Drinking all the supply of snowballs and as for the teeth-swapping!!! [}:)]

The worst bit is them telling you about their time as Land Girls [:0]

Now see, I never quite got the rationale behind general advertised discounts. Offering on a set day to a set group is a good way to drive business, but how does that sit with those outside that group? Think about the places that give discount to students, so say 10%. Why does a normal consumer (non-student) not get the discount too. Is that driving business? Or is it just me that will go elsewhere? Kind of like the 'Free Child Places' thing with holidays, any sensible person know that it's not free and the actual cost is factored in elsewhere (so the adult price). Is the same true here, the discount is given because there is sufficient margin made elsewhere from other customers?

It's because someone's got to drive Honey Lamb (and her walking stick) to the shop to buy stuff. Obviously, at such an age, going to the shops on her own is out of the question.

They make money from the driver while they're in there too... [:w]
