Hi Dez,

VS sectors within a GE fare are booked as a Q fare in Economy which means that they cannot be upgraded with miles unfortunately.

Cash is the only way to upgrade with GE fares I'm afraid...:)

I can upgrade GE flights from Y to PE (with cash), and am looking to upgrade one flight from Y to business on Singapore Airlines. I've been told that this is not possible. Can anyone confirm if this is correct - seems a bit unusual as I am trying to give them some money !

Also, presumably all my GE flights will earn airmiles?

Thanks

You can upgrade the VS sectors to PE using cash (there is a specific supplement for this) but that's it.

Thanks. I've been able to upgrade the flights with VS and Air NZ to PE, but the Singapore Airlines flight of course does not have PE. As I can upgrade the VS & NZ flights, it just seems a bit strange that I can't upgrade the Singapore flight - I would have thought that they would want the revenue.

Virgin have told me on the phone that all GE flights earn miles, but the lady I spoke to wasn't very convincing - can anyone please confirm that this is correct?

Cheers

GE flights are booked in classes which will earn miles, and if you wanted to upgrade the SQ flight to business, technically you can, subject to availability, but then the GE fare would be the business class fare GE, regardless of how many sectors are booked in business.
