Are VS missing an Upper Fare Sale?

On EVERY destination to the US I've plugged in today (while looking for one very specific trip), UA and BA have BOTH come in at less than half the VS price.

So, I'm looking for a very specific route. On that, UA come in at £1,588, BA at £1,598, VS at £3,919 [:0]

ALL airlines are showing 7's, so it's not an availability issue. I can't find anything promoting the other sales for UA/BA, but surely VS have missed something here? [y]

As it is, "welcome back" say the other two on my next trip - I can't justify 2.5x the price for the exact same flights! [V]

Maybe they have decided they don't need the money. [8D][?]

Come on, this subject has come up again and again, the current VS pricing sucks, as I have said before..if the price is close then it is VS, but these prices are not even close.

Ah, but these aren't availability issues (as have been raised before, where it's a D1 against another's I7 etc). These are specific sale fares that seem to be offered right now by all other airlines serving those routes (including Air Canada, as I've just discovered) EXCEPT VS...

Funny, I'm sure I saw quite a few empty seats on the way out here. Bet I do on the way home, too [ii]

Having watched the fares for the last couple of months and looking into the future, either the loads are and will be very very high, hence the price...or someone at rev management has been hitting the crack pipe.

Here's an interesting thought ..lets follow some prices

UA 2,602.41

Oooh - let's also do Aug 30th - Sep 6th, SFO in J:

VS 3,919
BA 2,749
UA 1,588

Is that at current prices as the recent UC fare sale included those dates? Or rather if you flew out on August 30th then the return was also covered by the sale.

They're the current, as-is, prices for a flight if booked today HL.

In the UC sale I paid £1950.10 but that included a 10% discount from a voucher because of the IFE going AWOL on a previous flight

LHR-SFO I presume? If so don't forget both BA and UA fly double daily on this route so availability could well be the factor.

The one I was looking at was, yes. But that's not the issue.

Look at 30/Aug - 6/Sep (those quotes above, where there's a LOT of difference between them):

UA955: F9 C9 D9 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 K9 L9 G9 P9 A8 Z9 E0 U0
UA931: F7 C9 D9 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T0 K0 L0 G0 P7 A5 Z9 E0 U0
BA285: F7 A6 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R9 V9 N9 E1 L9 S9 Q2
BA287: F9 A8 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 T7 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R9 V9 N7 E1 L7 S5 Q1
VS019: J7 D7 Z7 W7 S7 K2 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X7 N7

Then...

UA930: F6 C9 D9 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 K9 L9 G9 P6 A5 Z9 E0 U0
UA954: F6 C9 D9 Y9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 K9 L9 G9 P6 A5 Z9 E0 U0
BA284: F9 A7 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R0 V0 N0 E0 L0 S0 Q0
BA286: F8 A6 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M4 R0 V0 N0 E0 L0 S0 Q0
VS020: J7 D7 Z7 W7 S0 K0 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X0 N0

So... in Upper/Club/Business, NOT an availability issue. If ANYTHING, the reason the BA flight is more than the UA one (but still £1,200 less than VS!) is because the I's are sold out on the return [:?]
