V-Flyer

I've searched various websites and here, but not found too much info on what is avaialable in the Hong Kong Clubhouse.
Can anyone enlighten me - are there any additonal services over and above food and drink?

I'm on the heathrow flight from there, after what I'm sure will be an exhausting 3 day stay in HK, so want to know whether it is worth heading airside early or not.

Also, does anyone know how early you can checkin for the heathrow flight? I'm staying on Lantau Island, and leaving some excess luggage at the airport during my stay, so won't be doing in-town check-in.

The HK Clubhouse, like all of the overseas Clubhouses, has as well as food and drink the usual services like showers, computers, newspapers and magazines and computer games. There are no treatments available but they are only available in LHR/LGW

Cool video, HL, although I'm rather disappointed that you don't seem to appear in it at all. And all those empty stools at the bar - it just doesn't make sense...

The empty stools are because we were there very early. The SYD flight had just left and we were the first of the LHR bods in. Aer John filmed it while it was quiet just in case there were any objections from other passengers.

OK. Watched it with the sound on this time. Are you the character that Aer John refers to as a 'familiar guest' in the computer area...?

Does anyone know if you can pay for extra guests ?

I liked the HKG CH, it is a nice area to sit and watch the going on of the airport, as it is open to the airport it isn't that cool. I found it rather warm in the airport, not as humid as outside.

The food is very nice and can recommend the Club Sandwich, very nice! As others have mentioned there are papers, computers and a TV in the lounge.

We got to HKG (bound for SYD) 3 hours before departure, and it was nice and quiet, but it does fill up when the flight comes in from LHR or SYD and people were struggling for seats. I would get there early and relax.

Looks strange being open to the airport......does that not take away the peace and quiet of the place what with the noise of "cattle class" etc below?

It's actually surprisingly quiet up there xenole - the noise from below doesn't travel that well.

Also, some of the "inner areas" are protected by walls, which create a slightly more peaceful atmosphere still, away from the balcony.

And it's at the end of the gate area so there aren't humongous crowds immediately below chattering away. the gates you see on the video are the nearest ones and they caused very little noise when we were there

Thanks for the Info and Videos all... You've sold me on arriving early and chilling out prior to the flight. I've got to watch my drinking once onboard as I'm driving to Cornwall straight off, but a few beforehand will set me up nicely... and here's hoping for an Op Up to help me sleep the flight away! I think on this occasion MrsPVG wouldn't resent it as she cunningly avoids getting a British Drivers License, leaving me to do all the driving.
