My first ever UC trip next week flying out of Gatwick :D, I know some of you have been going UC for ages and think that it is not as good as it used to be, but what should I expect and will I be disappointed? Come on get me excited.

No you won't be disappointed. Like you say, some of us have been flying UC for ages. It tends to make us hypercritical and notice insignificant things that occasional flyers wouldn't see which can be a bit off-putting for the first time in UC.

You will be in a small cabin with only 14 suites and at the pointy end of the plane. You will actually be further forward than the pilot. The cabin will seem very spacious especially after Economy or Premium Economy. There will be a dedicated cabin crew and the FSM should appear at some stage and often helps with the meal service. I enjoyed the meal service a couple of weeks ago and hopefully you will too.

So sit back, relax and enjoy it.

The down side is......

......a total inability to turn right ever again.

Enjoy!

I used to be able to collect loads of FF miles but spend them all on UC upgrades now!

You'll love it. The levels of service is great

As others have said, you'll love the UC experience. The small UC cabin at the front of the aircraft is nice & very quiet. The suites are excellent too - IMO, better than other airline seats that go from upright to flat [or near flat] without you having to stand up for a short while.

Also, you're flying out of Gatwick, so you will have the Clubhouse too. I've not used a VS Clubhouse yet, as I tend to fly out of MAN - but all the reports on here rate them highly. Have a great flight & holiday.

Once you have turned left on boarding you will not want to turn right again - check out what overtime is available at work on your return! I never sampled UC in it's heyday that some people on here clearly remember, but have done a few airlines business class products over the years - Virgin UC compares well to other Western airlines business class products. If you want real consistency and top-notch, faultless service in business class, then head for Singapore Airlines.

Thanks
James
