... this time, over baggage handling [}:)][:w]

Sorry, couldn't resist. [:I]

Anyway, it's obviously a big enough problem now for VS too, as they've posted a link to this on their front page [:0]

More like with BAA. Lose your luggage immediatly after check-in but they will happily sell you some more in the Mall after security...... :)

NEVER pack any essential or valuable items in your checked in luggage. Make sure medication, vital documents, credit cards, money, jewellery, keys, cameras, phones and other electronic devices (to mention just a few!) are kept in your hand baggage.

How?

Equivalant to £50 to spend in an emergency anywhere but the US where it is $50!! That is under £30 - what can you buy for that?

Exactly. And with the single small carry on bag allowance in the UK, it's even more difficult.

Whilst it is a pittance, this is what insurrance is for. I'm still stunned by how many people don't ravel, especially those on business, without it.

LHR should be bulldozed, although with it's bosses

My company do not supply business travel insurance for luggage, only medical and emergency support.

I agree about getting insurance, I always have when travelled but have never needed it, until our last trip. When we got home and opened the suitcase which appeared fine on the outside apart from some scuffs, most of the items in the case were soaked, don't know how as there were no liquids so all we can assume is it got soaked at the airport as it was raining when we checked in.

My wifes handbag which she bought on holiday (expensive brand) was in there and was ruined. We tried to claim on the insurance for it and they rejected it by stating unless you report the claim on hold baggage being damaged at the airport tough luck. They basically told us you need to open your suitcase in the baggage hall and check all is OK else your jack out of luck.

Couldn't believe it so we are having a hard time justifying travel insurance in the future.
