Hey all...
Is anyone else experiencing problems seeing their seatmaps in the Update Booking section of Virginatlantic.com?
For 2 days now mine is just blank where the map should be. Just wondering if this is a general issue, or perhaps because the 744 for my flight is going through a refit.

I'm having the same problem and I'm putting it down to the fact that I too am on a 747 and they are awaiting the refits

I have no problems at all so think the problems is just for the LHR 744 flights. Another possibility is that the 60% pre bookable limit has been reached but I would still think its more to do with the new config.

Indeed it won't show the layout of the new look 747's
However, the seat box still comes up half way down the page on the right hand side. If you type your seat request into it as long as it's available it will let it change it.
To confirm it works I checked the seat map on expert flyer both before and after making changes and it confirmed the seat had moved.

That 's not the case as I had just booked one revenue fare and two rewards and the girl in Premier said there was loads of availability in UC for one of my flights. They hadn't even got 60% of the bookings let alone the seat allocation

Well that confirms it then, new config causing the problems. I guess as not all the a/c are going to be re-fitted in one go, and at the moment they won't know which a/c is planned to do the flight they can't put a seat map up, imagine it could be like this until all have the config.

I can't help wondering what will happen to our seat assignments if we get the new configuration. I have selected 15, 16 and 17K. It won't matter too much if we are in the A zone but could you imagine what it would be like if someone had pre-selected their beloved 6A and K only to find themselves upstairs and as it is now an exit row, no longer available to them

Just to say that the new seat maps have appeared on the Update Booking page for my trip in January.
If you recall people have complained on here about losing seat assignments when there has been a change of aircraft - especially losing UC assignments when the switch has been from an LGW configured plane to an LHR plane where the LGW UC section has been identical to zone A in the LHR planes. What I have found with the new maps is that they have kept my seat number of 16K even though it now goes from zone B to the pointy end. However I quickly realised another problem. I had booked two friends as reward flights and they were on separate PNRs and the adjoining seats which I had pre-booked were not greyed out as unavailable. Indeed going into the Update Booking page with one of the other PNRs showed no seats allocated to them. What is more, the former 15K and 16K (now 20 and 21) were also greyed out as indeed were the whole of those two rows [:(!] I called the Premier Team to try and re-instate our former seats to no avail as they were not showing in the system and so had to stick with the 15, 16 and 17K we had chosen although in a different part of the aircraft. And as far as I am aware we are the only ones who have pre-assigned seats at the moment

I'm not so sure about the 60% seat allocation thing. For my recent trip to England I was checking in the In-laws on line, cheap bastards were in Economy and bitching about seat allocations. So I followed advice here and checked in right away at 4:30pm as soon as it was available. There were a number of better seats available, but I would estimate 20 or so, not the 50 to 60 that I would have expected. So I question the 60% information.

Don't forget that Exit Rows and Bulkheads still aren't available at OLCI so that will account for a number of seats that will still be showing as unavailable!
