Hi
If flying LHR-SIN-MEL and the first and second legs are on different flight numbers, does this constitute 2 longhaul (2000miles+) flights and thus 2 x TP?
Thanks

On a related note, if I fly VAA to SYD, and break the trip in HKG with a, say, 1 night stopover, then carry on to SYD, does that get me 2x the normal TP's [?]...

All VS flights earn double TP's regardless of whether you stopover or not.

Hi Richard, not sure I understand what you're saying. If I go to SYD on VAA, UC, I get 10 TP's each way. Where does the "double TP's" come in here???

Each sector is worth 5tps in J so LHR-HKG =5tps HKG-SYD=5tps SYD-HKG=5tps HKG-LHR =5tps so a total of 20 tps if the round journey is made in J. As Richars has stated stopping over makes no difference to the number of total points received. The only difference is how these points appear on your FC statement ie a broken journey (stopping off in HKG either way) will show as 2 X five point trips and a through trip (ie LHR-SYD or it's reverse) will show as one 10 tier point journey.

Back in the old time LHR-SYD was 8 TPs in UCS. Now it is 10 TPs each way. Now from an accounting stand point I disagree as an increase FFP liabiblity happens on the HKG-LHR sectore do to the new silver status

Yes you will, you normally get about an hour to get off and stretch your legs. On QF they allow you to leave your hand luggage on the plane in the over head lockers. (Well they did a couple of years back) this of course could of changed. As the crew do not leave the plane until the new crew arrive. Wish VS allowed this on their SYD route!! [:?]
