MCO Xmas day

I am flying PE VS 15 on 25Dec LGW - MCO and returning on VS 16 on 2 Jan,What are the chances of V.Port?
If am correct the return looks almost sold out does anyone know whether virgin will offer voluntary denied boarding and if so what do they offer to get the flight the next day

I would say your chances of VPort are very slim.

None of the LGW planes are fitted yet.

If they are looking to offload pax, and you volunteer to be VOed you will get a £25 voucher to spend onboard on duty free. If you are selected, you will be put up in a hotel, given meal vouchers and a seat on the next flight. I think the compensation is usually a voucher for a return trip to anywhere on the VS route map or 30K or 40K FC points.

In reality on the MCO flights, if eco is sold out, they will op up - starting with golds. As you are silver - keep your fingers crossed that the knock on will be you going from PE to UC.

Its a 'Select' voucher that is given out for VDB (Voluntary Denied Boarding) - it is good for 50K points or a free flight in economy to any of the VS served (VS metal, not codeshare) routes.

LGW fleet will not be getting V-Port!!!

Instead Nova is being 'ENHANCED' to offer pax more movie choices and games and the handsets in PE and Y are being modified to allow pax to remove them from the location like other handsets on Oydessy, Arcadia and V-Port.

That's a real disappointment for us LAS flyers and all who use the other LGW routes. It's a bit of a blow for consistency across the fleet, but I recognise the expense of V:Port, so perhaps in future years they will decide to eventually equip these planes with it. I expect the LHR fleet will have something newer and better by then though..

Unlike the UCS, V:Port isn't widely marketed, so many people won't know what they are missing out on. Rather clever of them. I know i'm going to have to revisit JFK/SFO in the near future so i finally get a taste of V:Port..;)

Bring on the Nova enhamcements anyhow, more channels would be great..

Theres always the ongoing dispute between us pax who want to see consistency across the fleet, and the airline, who have to spend their billions wisely. I naturally assumed that V.Port would go on all LGW planes and iam dissapointed that it wont. Thankfully, i havent used V.Port yet, but i know that when i do i will be slightly dissapointed to get anything thats not AVOD.

I agree with Onionz, i love going to LAS and find it a real shame that it has been consigned to a B&S route. Especially considering that the UC tickets to LAS are more expensive than many of the further LHR destinations, such as SFO or LAX. Ive got a 2006 trip planned there, as well as being there this year. I guess i might follow in RM's footsteps and fly to LAX and get an internal over to LAS, ill get more miles then, plus AVOD and (prob) UCS, with a ticket that will cost less. :)

It's funny that you can fly further for less..
But I guess if more carriers flew LAS directly the price would drop..

LAX will always be more competative as more carriers fly there so if a few hours more isn't an issue it makes more sense to FLY LHR-LAX LAX-LAS than LGW-LAS direct

Other than cost and millage incentives you also gain the following:

Red/AG
prob V:Port (so that longer flight goes quicker!)

AU/UC
Bigger LHR lounge
Revivals
