Online Check-in fails repeatedly

Am I the only one who's experienced 100% failure to check in on-line? I've tried 4 times, once on each leg of 2 flights to LAX. The system very convincingly lets you laboriously enter all the details, only to say at the very end something like "I'm sorry, we were unable to check you in on-line, please check in at the airport".
What's the point of the system if it doesn't work. Called the FC, and they said they'd "look into it". 2 weeks later the same thing again....[:(!]
