How flexible is a "d" ?

Hi Guys,

As the title says, how flexible is a "D".

Our great fare code section does say "2nd highest level of fare class for Upper Class, some restrictions in regards to changes/cancellation", but what exactly does that mean?

For example, would I be able to move the departure day a day or 2 either way, depending on availability?

Unfortunately David, a UK purchased D fare is actually completely inflexible. Strange though it may sound, the ONLY difference (effectively) between it and a Z is the car service.

Non-changeable, non-refundable. The only way of moving anything is to upgrade it to a full J I'm afraid.

THere are various layers within D. For example, this is for a DAP basis.

BETWEEN UNITED KINGDOM AND THE UNITED STATES FOR DAP FARES CHANGES ANY TIME CHANGES NOT PERMITTED. WAIVED FOR UPGRADE TO HIGHER FARE. NOTE - MAY UPGRADE ENTIRE JOURNEY TO ANY HIGHER VS FARE. UPGRADING PERMITTED AT ANY TIME SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS OF NEW FARE. THE NON-REFUNDABLE PORTION OF THE TICKET MAY BE USED AS CREDIT TOWARDS PAYMENT OF FURTHER TRAVEL ON ANY VS SERVICE. IN THE EVENT OF AN UPGRADE - THE PASSENGER WILL BE CHARGED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 FARES AND AN ADDITIONAL GBP100.00 PENALTY WILL NOT APPLY TO INFANTS NOT OCCUPYING A SEAT. Best thing to do is to phone and check which basis you have, and the associated rules.

The most likely one you have David, is a DAP7, as a full DAP is around 90% of the full J fare anyway (so very rarely used).

A DAP7 doesn't have this clause, and is completely inflexible.
