UCS Seating Question.

I thought I’d write this post by way of introduction.

I’m new on here, but have been actively posting on another Frequent Traveller forum for some time now, but am only finding my feet so to speak on V-Flyer.

I’ve flown with VS extensively for many years in the past, but have been absent from their aircraft for some time now. However, Mrs Kered & myself have a trip booked LGW-MCO-LGW for early next year, which signals our long planned return to the Silver & Maroon aircraft again.

While I’ve travelled in the J2000 UC cabin before & quite liked it I must say, this time we’ll get to sample the UCS for the first time.

I believe that sitting one behind the other, is a good way for a couple to travel, which we are doing on the way down to MCO, sitting in 8+9 K. So I’m pretty happy to try that arrangement out.

On our way home however, we initially had 6+7A pre assigned, but having looked at the seat maps & some of the photos in the gallery on here, I thought that with the close proximity of the seats in row 6, it might be better to have us sit opposite each other in 6 A+K instead, which I’ve done on Virgin’s web site.

So I’d appreciate any thoughts and/or advice that you may like to offer on our seating assignments.

Firstly, this thread will tell you how to do the countdown timers.

Re the UCS, we are taking our first UCS flight from MAN to MCO next April and have been advised that 6A&K are the seats to be in if you are traveling as a couple.

Be warned that 6A&K only works on the LGW/MAN configured aircraft and some of the LHR ones. The latter 747s are being re-configured as we speak and when they are all done those seats will have a different number and 6A&K will be upstairs

Of course, first of all welcome.

I can't say I like 6 H or K, to closed in for me, in the end it is a small cabin, if you like privacy then these seats would be ideal, if not then look a little further down the cabin.

While IÕve been posting for many years on various forums here in cyber world, it is still nonetheless daunting to open your first thread on a new forum. So I ask for your patience while I find my feet here & get to grips with the format on V-Flyer.

IÕve been lurking here for quite sometime, but wanted to wait until I had a booking with VS made before becoming active.

I guess the great seating question is really a case of try it & see. IÕm heartened to read that some of you recommend 6A+K as a good choice for a couple travelling together & would assume for a night flight back to LGW, it should make for a quiet nights sleep.

I look forward to my return to VS. For many, many years they were always my airline of choice, but for some time now, circumstances dictated that I flew with another carrier. I hope that our MCO trip next year will mark the start of a new era of Virgin Atlantic travel for us & equally look forward to being a contributing member on here at V-Flyer.

Agreed. 6A/K in the 'nose' is very private, and very quiet. You will sleep very well indeed. I wouldn't pick them for a day flight though.. might feel a bit claustrophobic. More likely to pick two seats - on the same side - mid-cabin for a day flight.

I agree with the others on here - namely 6A/K are great seats for a couple who want to be close to each other. The seat backs of the ottoman's touch each other, so you are quite close to your other half. The only complaint I would have is the proximity of the bulkhead at the front of the cabin - you would not get that much feeling of space, IMO.

I'm a fan of 8A/K & 9A/K on a LGW/MAN aircraft. Both are good rows in the middle of the cabin, with a bit of space in the middle, but still away from the bar... not that I have seen the bar actually being used! I can assure you it will be used on 3rd Nov on VS75, as I am not driving when I arrive in the USA

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer.

I would echo Kraken's view that sitting side by side in rows 8&9 are my preferred option - if nothing else you will have overhead bins immediately available to you unlike rows 6 &7 on the LGW/MCO configuration

IÕm well happy with my seat choices so, for our trip.

8+9 K on the way down to MCO & 6 A+B for the night flight home.

As I said earlier, IÕm really looking forward to my return to Virgin, after an all too long absence & particularly looking forward to trying out the UCS.

I know the LGW-MCO route will probably have a somewhat watered down Upper Class service, due to the ÒBucket & SpadeÓ nature of the route, but hopefully weÕll have some ÒFull FatÓ LHR routes to look forward to in the future.

IÕm just bursting at the seams to see the new Clubhouse at LHR.
