I'm off to MCO in a weeks time too, so am watching this with interest..
From what I've seen the higher rates are driven by the expected US interest rate drop tomorrow, coupled with the expectation that interest rates here remain unchanged in the meeting next week. So theoretically over the next week I guess it means it could still get better...?

I'm holding off for another few days at least, TBH if I'm only getting a small amount I don't worry about little changes but I need a few thousand this time so am gambling on it getting even better.
What date are your off Steve, I'm out next Friday?

Just watching BBC News 24 and they are commentating on the fact that the pound reached $2.64 in the early 1970's. Wouldn't that be nice[y]

No it wouldn't, one thing you need to understand, whilst a weak dollar is great for the UK/Euro tourist to the states, it is killing the UK/Euro companies that are trying to sell their products here.

You could move them into my bank account in the USA for a favourable rate

Although I couldn't run to exchanging the millions you may have rather than a few thousand [:I]

I've just had a bit of a shop around and I cannot see anyone offering a better rate than Travelex currently - Today's rate for USD is $2.0001 to the £1.
Where are you getting $2.06 from if you don't mind me asking?

Hi - if you are out and about on the High St then M&S tend to do the best rate - we're off to Miami 2 weeks on Thursday!

They use Travelex, and are usually about the same or very slightly lower. Yesterday, Travelex were quoting 1.9942 - but the M & S site itself has been down for some days. Anyone actually got any $ from M & S recently to confirm the rate there?

I use my Nationwide card at cash machines in the US. Back in August I had $2.01 = £1 when Bureau de Change in UK was only giving $1.93. You get bank rates at cash machines rather than tourist rates. There is no commission and also save carrying all that money at once too.

I got $2.003 to the £ today at a M&S Bureau de Change. This seems to be their set exchange rate, as a friend I'm travelling with also got the same rate at a different M&S many miles away.
I would have done the Travelex online ordering & collect at the airport [as I normally do when I go abroad] but Travelex no longer operate out of MAN.

I called into Eurochange between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square this evening their best offer was 2.034 - walked away in disgust

Found another place on Shaftsbury Avenue near the bottom of Dean Street offering 2.04
This place is worth watching
https://www.interchangefx.co.uk/But buns'
http://www.thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk/ still seems the best so far.
I'm starting to think I should be asking who does same rate buy back.
