This was an article in today’s Daily Telegraph; I assume it would be a similar service to the check-in and chill out service VS offers in some of its Caribbean destinations (Do you have to pay for that service in resort?)! I’ am not sure I would entrust my case to a 3rd party, unless there was some on-line tracking to ensure that it was on my flight.

Now I like that idea

But what are the Customs implications ??
Someone on here will tell me but I have a feeling that there's a company that already does this service but collects your bag from home 2 days before you leave. However, it's not cheap £200 - 400 I think [:#]

I was under the impression that was illegal. The person traveling must check-in their own luggage as they have to travel on the same flight. Also, you would have to declare the fact that they have been out of your possession too. Meaning you would have to unpack everything, check it over and re-pack, all to make sure no 'unexpected' items have mysteriously appeared.

Will it not simply be a check-in at your home - to a member of Virgin staff - with perhaps even the usual security Qs.?

Andrew - several companies -
http://www.firstluggage.com/ for example at £129 per suitcase to the US. All perfectly above board - luggage is just specialised freight.
