UC Out - PE Return - Use of revivals Lounge?

Hi.

I love this site, it's so useful :D

I fly BOS - LHR quite often (once every couple of months) and have recently switched to Virgin. Love the airline and have experienced PE and UC so far.

I'm flying back at Christmas and want an UC flight out, for sleeping, and PE back as I don't need the extra when flying during the day. If I fly BOS - LHR on an UC ticket one way, can I use the revivals lounge? I'd like to hope so!

Ideally the ticket type I'm looking at is UC (Lowest) on their site as I know my dates and don't need flexibility.

Anyone's views and feedback would be much appreciated.

JC.

If you're travelling on a paid for UC ticket you can use Revivals. Remember to ask for it though as they don't always offer.

Hi JC and Welcome :)

Yes if you fly UC one way into LHR you can use Revivals :)

When flying Upper I always go for a Z fare ticket, which gives you everything Upper Class has to offer except the limo transfers (and of course the flexability - but like you I too know my dates).

Z is a 42 day superAPEX fare so needs to be bought at least 42 days in advance. Less than 42 days and you will see quite a significant price increase.

Im sure you have to be ticketed with a 'J' class ticket in order to use revivals at LHR, or u must have a gold card!

Im sure D and Z and any other fares cannot use it. simply is not enough space if all UC pax used it!

Sorry Declan

but I've used Revivals when flying on a Z, D and even a G fare (reward) Upper flight and I've never been refused entry to Revivals yet. The only occasion when you cannot use Revivals is if your are Op-upgraded to Upper at check-in.

I'd guess people who live relatively locally amd those heading straight to London hotels might just be eager to be on their way, and of course codeshare passengers can't use it.

Thank you all for your feedback.

One question, how do you 'select' which class of fare 'i.e Z or Y class' when buying your tickets?

Hi Colbornjames,

http://www.v-flyer.com/codes.asp has some information on fare codes. Upperclass fare codes are Z,D,J, and reward flight G.

Basically Z is the cheapest UC fare which doesnt include the limo transfers. If booking through the virgin website then selecting Upper Class (Flexible) will get you a more expensive D or J fare, and Selecting Upper Class (Cheapest) will get you a Z fare when available.

I have certainly used the revivals lounge in LHR on a Z fare before. Its well worth the time IMO, the showers are great and they will iron your clothes for you. Then you can get some V.Touch treatments and breakfast before heading off. ;)

Lovely!!! I think that's sealed it for me. UC out PE back.

Now, here's a question, BOS to LHR is always PACKED, last time I flew, back in June, I was on a PE (K Class) ticket as was upgraded on the spot, even without asking. Is this common place on this flight? Or was I treated to the computer's mental note [first time Virgin Flyer, upgrade him as he'll come back again?] - I'm flying PE again in September and want to know my chances. I'm not a cheapskate, I NEVER expect an upgrade just because I ask and wear smart clothes (I do that anyway ;)) but I've never seen a BOS to LHR flight, regardless of airline, anything but brimming with people.

Thanks again for the prompt advice.

Hi JC,
Gold and Silver members generally get priority on free upgrades.
However sometimes non FF are lucky as the flight is SO overbooked in PE (usually a full price W ticket gets upgraded before the cheaper S)

If you get a freebe upgrade lounge access both at BOS and revivals at LHR wont be offered.
However if you buy an UC ticket access is always available.
