RE: JNB Flight

Could someone tell me which aircraft configuration is available for the LHR - JNB routing? I'll be flying that route on 29SEP and returning 14OCT. From the aircraft types I've seen for VS, it seems it will be the A360, but I don't know if that will be the Suite plane or not. Do they schedule the aircraft far enough in advance to know? If it is not Suite outfitted, do you know if the seats lie down flat?

Thank you for any insight you might have, and I look forward to your reply.

Hi Sydny

Sorry...both flts are currently planned on A340-300, none of which have the suites yet. 744s go onto the JNB route from 31Oct.

Cheers
Alan

Are the LHR-JNB flights indeed being converted over to 744s? I'm booked on Nov 4-17 LHR-JNB-LHR, just made seat reservations, and the agent confirmed it was an A343...

Hi Jim

Welcome to V-flyer :)

To add to my previous post:
VS601 is planned on a 343 until the end of the summer schedule (30Oct).
From 31Oct to 10Dec it's a 343 Mo/Tu/Th/Sa and a 744 We/Fr/Su.
From 11Dec to 09Jan it's a 744 every day.
From 10Jan to 26Mar it's a 343 Mo/Tu/Th/Sa and a 744 We/Fr/Su.

Cheers
Alan

Hello , its the old style upper class seat configuration 2-2-2
avoid window seat if flying on your own !! , If its the 747-400
best seats are in the upper deck and again avoid window seat if flying on your
own .

Thanks for the info everyone! So if I understand this correctly, my LHR-JNB flight #601 on Thr Nov 4 will be an A343. We're returning on Wed Nov 17 flight #602. Would that one be a 744 with suites? :)

Will be traveling with a friend, and still am undecided about best seats for the 2 of us on the 744. Was thinking about 6A/K in the nose cone, but have seen mixed reviews. I guess we'll really be mostly sleeping, so perhaps the upper deck, as recommended, might be a better option.[?]

Hi Jim

Sorry I think it'll be a 343 on the way back too. The a/c that operates VS601 on Tue comes back as VS602 on Wed.

Cheers
Alan

Oh well, at least we'll have a chance at experiencing the suites on the flights MIA-LHR-MIA. Thanks again for the kind info.
